By practicing these yogasanas your spinal reflexes remain strong which means you that time lapse which occurs sometimes that time lapse does not occur When for example, when on a tava (flat skillet), you are about to lift the chapati then if the skillet is heated, then it will produce some heat and towards that heat when the hand reached and, had your reflexes been good then you would have been able to feel the heat from a distance also, hence you would have become cautious and careful and you would have quickly lifted the chapati but when your reflexes are not strong then, it is only after getting your hand burnt that you realise the tava was heated Okay, I'll give one more example you sit down to have food the vegetable that has been prepared is one of your favourites you immediately took a spoonful of it and placed it in your mouth as you put it inside your mouth, you realised the vegetable was so hot that it caused a tongue-burn now many would have spat that very moment in their case, this reflex works quite nicely that our tongue shouldn't burn even if we look stupid while spitting outside even if we look indecent but, they are able to protect their tongue; but many times you are seated in such a place where, a thing like this an action and indecency like this one, can't be done now it in there in the mouth and you are chewing it and you have a tongue burn you are trying to swallow it as quickly as possible to gulp it down but what to do? your reflexes weren't functioning correctly otherwise, when with the spoon, you had taken a spoonful of that cooked vegetable you should have seen the steam there itself even if it wasn't noticed there when you brought the spoon closer to your mouth atleast then you should be able to feel its heat, however it is not noticed here also did a mistake there, did a mistake here, so have to face the punishment of this mistake, hence your tongue will burn Now let me give you another example you are eating a chapati while eating the chapati, your brain is thinking about something and what you are eating attention didn't remain on that so you bit your tongue or or bit the cheek from inside you bit it what happened? the tongue was bitten Why was it bitten? when there's food in your mouth then where should attention also be it should be on your mouth, savour the flavour of the food that has been put inside the mouth you are chewing, bring attention to that Now, to be always healthy, if you really wish to ensure your health and specially your stomach health then rule says you should chew your food 32 times. How many times? Do you? Were you aware of this? but why were you not practicing this? 32 times It's a very strange kind of experience in the beginning but later on, once you have built up this good healthy habit of chewing your food 32 times your stomach will behave so well Now, if you have kept food in your mouth and you chew it well while eating, then neither will there be a cut on your tongue, nor will the cheek be cut from inside so if there are cuts on tongue and cheek, this is a sign of two things; One your coordination of motor skills through your brain is not happening in correct way Our motor skills the functional actions walking, roaming, talking, eating, chewing, standing, sitting all these functional actions these functions are also controlled by your brain Now, for your brain to keep functioning properly the ability of the brain to function in correct way has to be enhanced How can we do that? we can only and only do it through yogic asana if you do not practice asana...okay, someone said I play badminton, I play basketball I play cricket now, when you play cricket then your muscular movement is happening nicely sure with the bat, when you manage the ball weight of the ball, of the bat giving it a deep cut, a drive while doing all this, your limbic movement is happening, your limbs are moving, your back and shoulders are moving but while doing this, what is your spine or brain getting out of this? nothing when you run for example, when you are playing hockey or football playing softball, throwball, volleyball while playing these, your muscular and skeletal movement is happening But is your brain being nourished with blood? No Is your pituitary gland being nourished with blood? No Is your spine being flexed that is also not happening so, all the sports and games that exist they do strengthen and enhance your skeletal and muscular level but they cannot maintain your internal health they do not strengthen your brain and spinal reflexes and the benefit of all these things of brain and spine reflexes we receive it only from yogasanas this is why even if you wish to score good marks then how will marks be obtained? By studying. Who will do this study? The brain. But, if the brain itself won't function properly keep sitting with your books opened for six hours still not able to understand anything, why? Your short term and long term memory's system is not functioning properly so you are sitting for six hours, and the family members think you are working really hard they get to know the reality when the result comes your hard work is revealed at the time of result and many times, when you are really working hard, really making all the efforts but, if your brain does not have the power to retain the memory of what has been studied then you forget all that was studied, the moment you sit in the examination hall What is it's benefit then The hard work that we have done, our hard work when stays with us our memory when remains strong only then will its result come in front of us so, for this to have a sharper memory and to retain your memories we need a better functioning brain and our brain will function better only if we practice yogasana Are you getting my point? What is purpose of yogasanas? not for this...many times people think this way and validate it with their logic that we go for a stroll we go for a walk..I have seen many people when they didn't go out to take a stroll at that time also they were fat, and now when they go for a stroll even then they remain fat, so what did happen firstly, their way of walking is incorrect secondly you walked for an hour and had aloo, puri, chole, buttermilk later on the calories you consumed later on, are way more than the amount of calories you burnt while walking hence, they remain fat as well as unhealthy Physical movement physical exercise and yoga, there is a big difference between the two physical exercises, or even if someone practices gymming then in gymming, your muscular and skeletal and something or the other...because adrenaline also gets released in it, it provides you with a 'happy factor', it makes you feel good; however the effort that you have put into building those muscles for three or four months, you leave gymming, stop running the shape that your body had acquired, it melts again but, if you keep practicing yogasanas and even if, due to some reason, you are not able to practice yogasanas even then, weakness does not arise in your system so, all those students, who are still studying, and all of you are studying right now, and the competition too is escalating do you know, what the highest cut-off percentage in Delhi has stood at, this time 97.8% where 97.8% has become the higher touch now, the first lot of good colleges after this it will definitely go for all those who have scored between 90%-97% then, for the second rank colleges, the ones who have scored between 80%-90% will come for the third rank colleges, the ones who scored between 70%-80% will come the one who has scored around 72% or 75%, they won't be able to get admission in a good college and, this is the level of competition to get entry into a college, and if someone wishes to opt for some professional course there also, this percentage of yours is counted all the ones who score a higher percentage, the institute happily gives them entry; but where will, the ones who score less percentage, go? your choices become so less your career options become limited when your job and career options become lesser then, the so-called worldly development, the economical progress that is required the economical stability that is required, how will it come in your life so for every student this becomes very important that his brain and his body should be functioning well It is a shame that schools don't understand this knowledge they don't understand the wisdom of yogic asana so they don't promote it over there. Recently, it has been started in some schools but they are so disinterested it is being taken so casually that it is not an entertaining thing for the students, they don't find any direct benefit in it so, even in some schools where it is mandatory they do it, but they are doing it with such disinterest and unwillingness, that they keep waiting for it to end; they are not enjoying and yogasana's real benefit is acquired only when you are doing it with your own willingness, whole-heartedly you are relishing its practice and enjoying it while feeling its benefit being completely aware of the body, being completely aware of our breath when you practice yogasana, then its benefit further deepens otherwise yogasana which is being done in a disinterested way there is no difference between it and physical exercise so, I expect that realising this benefit that you can derive now, you will learn yogasanas nicely as well as practice them so being stupid, this too is in our hands and being intelligent is also in our hands so, we shall move from being stupid towards being intelligent and for this we, ourselves can do a lot and one thing from many things is practicing yogasanas Which yogasanas did I mention practicing which our body our muscular, skeletal brain spine reflexes become better, who will answer this? raise your hand, otherwise everyone will start speaking like this and the rest will be able to cheat You, yes no, no, the one seated in front of you, yes...this one yes I didn't even mention Shirshasana I didn't say Shirshasana today you tell yes yes yes, Trikonasana- it was the triangle pose one is left, one that you haven't mentioned now, everybody knows this one sit down Tadasana, Surya-Namaskar Sarvangasana Trikonasana, and a second version of Trikonasana is Prasarita Trikonasana if you practice these yogasanas regularly; though I didn't mention one yogasana but this child mentioned it, that is Shirshasana that is definitely indeed the king of all asanas definitely, but the procedure to do Shirshasana is slightly intricate, it has to be learnt properly but, when it comes to Sarvangasana, all of you will quickly be able to learn and practice it this evening itself we will make you practice it in the evening itself so that, in these three to four days, you are able to practice and what will be really interesting is that when we will have the last class of yoga here in that class, Sarvangasana will be of 3 minutes and the one who is able to hold it for three minutes enough why we should do it, in this context, that's all for now we will discuss the rest, later Okay, I wish to say one thing in context of Yoga Nidra, because the next sitting that you are going to have after this, is that of yoga-nidra In yoga nidra, we make our body and our brain so awake, and so relaxed that even in it, our latent powers that lie hidden inside, can be awakened I told you today, in the starting itself, that we are children of Ishvara when Ishvara is omnipotent and, Ishvara is all-powerful then, we should also be the same, but we have so many shortcomings right now we don't see ourselves as powerful this very innate potential of ours that lies hidden, yoga nidra is meant to realise and awaken this hidden power one person said that while practicing yoga nidra, I tend to fall asleep I can understand there is no problem in it but at the time when you fell asleep at that time also, your subconscious mind what we refer to as the subconscious mind in English your subconscious mind is awake and at that time also, the instructions that I give are going in your subconscious mind I am still working on you, even if you have gone into sleep, do not worry don't feel bad about it but that doesn't mean that this in this sitting you come with this mood that okay, I am going to sleep no, you don't come with this attitude you come with this attitude that I have to remain up, I have to be up initially, this is why you are asked to make a resolve that I will stay awake I will stay awake, we ask you to repeat this thrice because the possibility to fall asleep is definitely there; see, anyway it is such a pleasant environment, the ambience is already set it is dark as well and it's cool too there is a carpet as well a sweet voice is also coming right? All the preparations have been made, and we are also lying down and repeatedly my voice is coming...Relax! and you get more relaxed and I say, Relax you feel more relaxed and within five minutes you are gone you fell asleep, there isn't anything bad about falling asleep but the benefit that was supposed to be acquired, you couldn't derive that benefit also this is why...when we are asking you to make a resolve that I will stay awake, then at that time your entire resolve should get engaged in this and then the whole process, wherein we begin from the toe all the way to the head then gradually keeping a count of the breath, with every breath that comes in and every breath that goes out 26, 25, 24...this reverse counting that we do it is during the time of this reverse counting, when your neuro activity increases this is the time when your sleeping neurons are going to wake up and the synaptic connection of these neurons with other neurons, begins to form hence, reverse counting is the most powerful time of yoga nidra this whole process of reverse breathing when it is completed, then again when we ask you that all those changes that you wish to bring in your life repeat that thought again during this time, the resolve that you make will 100% come to fruition whatever you think whatever you are hoping for it will definitely happen there's no doubt about it
