Without knowing the truth of existence, mind residing in the ignorance will only wander. Nothing else. Due to this very ignorance mind carries darkness, bondage, anger, greed, fights, quarrels & violence. One who is devoid of gyana (Self knowledge)... That is why sant Kabir calls them blind. (Sant Kabir's verse) 'Mandir pes chahun dish bheege, bahar rahe toh sukha...' Generally speaking what happens is - During rain if you are inside the house you will remain dry but if you will go outside you will be drenched. But in this verse Kabir says totally opposite. 'Mandir rahe chahun dish bheege...' (Meaning) You will be drenched by rain from all four directions. If you stay in the limitations of your mind then you will be drenched in the rain of sorrows and when you discard the narrow minded thinking of your mind & come out of it, then you shall remain dry (no sorrows). That Supreme Reality which pervades in everything & everywhere, does not need any temple. But if you observe the whole world... Someone says - 'If we go to so & so pilgrimage then we will attain liberation.' or 'If we take a dip in this holy river, if we bathe in this pure river, we shall attain liberation.' This is called - sitting inside the temple yet getting drenched. And what does avadhoo (carefree mystic) do? He discards all defense & security. He does not remain in any slavery and he has attained liberation. He is ever blissful because he is established in the gyana. So what is ultimate? Gyana (Knowledge of the Self). 'Bin nainan ke sab jag dekhe, ye jag dekha andha...' (Meaning) There are no eyes (of wisdom/gyana) but everyone claims to see. They don't know anything, still everyone claims to know. 'Do you know....?' This is how they start. 'Do you know what I know? What I know is the best.' 'Do you know that whatever you know is total crap.' The body with which you are doing yogic sadhana, O sadho! Your body will also burn in the same fire of funeral pyre in which worldly person's body will burn. Some yogi had made a claim that the yoga practice he teaches will make the body immortal. The body will become immortal. Kabir makes fun of this. one who resides in every heart, how can He be confined to one place? How? One who is timeless, one who is eternal, for Him we cannot say that - 'Only this time is auspicious/pure enough to remember Him & this time is not.' I remember in 1998, when I came to Toronto for the first time, somebody had questioned me here. They belonged to a Sikh family. He asked that when they lived in Amritsar, Punjab, every morning he would go to Golden temple & listened to 'Aasa di Vaar'. These people were full of love. They said, 'Now we have come here (Toronto). Now the problem is that India's 4 am & Canada's 4 am does not align. So shall we do our daily spiritual practice as per the time zone of Amritsar or time zone of Canada?' Because they had listened that if you wake up at 4 am & do your spiritual practice, then you will be showered with the grace of the Lord. He said, 'But 4 am of India, here it will be...' What will be the time here - tell me? Sometimes the time difference is of 11 hours and sometimes 10 hours. He said - 'It becomes so hard, we don't understand which time zone to follow.' I said - 'Look, right now you are in Toronto, so follow this time zone.' He said - 'But the kirtan in India takes place according to the Indian timezone.' I said - 'If you are so concerned about the Indian time zone then pack your bags, sit in the plane and there you can follow India's 4 am.' 1.5 hr prior to sunrise is considered as Brahma-muhurta. The sunrise here...now the problem here is, Sun does not rise. It is so problematic. Honestly speaking, this waking up early in Brahma-muhurta; all of this was planned for India, not for America. And the truth is that this region was considered as patal. This region located below was considered as patal. Our rishis (seers) did not give any importance whatsoever to this region. So the calculations pertaining to this longitude & latitude is not at all valid. They were so confused, which one to consider as Brahma-muhurta. I said, 'Simply you see this that... What time do you sleep at night?' He replied - 'We sleep around 9:30 pm. So I said just add up 7 hours after 9:30 pm. Wake up after 7 hours of sleep. Some people need 6.5 hrs, some 7 hours, some 7.5 hours. Based on this, you should wake up. This itself will be your Brahma-muhurta.' Whichever time you remember the Lord - that very time is Brahma-muhurta. What is Amritvela? The time you meditate upon the Lord, that very time is Amrit Vela. So if you meditate in the afternoon then the afternoon is Amrit Vela. If you do it in the evening then evening too is amritvela. If you do it at midnight then that too is Amrit Vela. So Amrit Vela has no relation to the hands of the clock. It has no relation to the sunrise or sunset. People who work in hospitals, who work with patients, they have experienced this. If someone dies in the house then you might have seen them. Whenever someone dies, either urine or faeces pass out at that time. Why? Because Apana-vayu along with prana (vital force) exits through these openings. Right? So even sitting on the toilet seat can be dangerous. You went there to pass out something else, but you passed away. This is such a thing. In realty we are just scared of death. We do not do any research on death. We are just scared. But if you see any dead body... Well, you will be fortunate if you get to see a dead body or to see someone's prana leave his body in front of you. Then it will be confirmed that either from anus or from urethral opening, prana exits the body. And the third condition is that in which his prana exits through eyes. And fourth condition is when it exits through the mouth. If it leaves through the eyes then the eyes of the dead person will not close, even if you try to close, it will open up again or if it exits through the mouth, then his mouth will not close. That is why, dead body looks horrifying. That is why, hospital staff...if someone dies in the hospital then before they hand over the body to you, they put a tape on his eyelids & they insert cotton swab in the nostrils. So that his open eyes & open mouth does not look hideous. Here (In Canada) you even put the make up on a dead person. Whole life they had plastered make up on face. Then even dead body's face is plastered with make up. You live in style & die in style. Good for you! In india if someone dies, they will just bathe the body and cover it with plain white shroud and carry it after tying it on the four sticks. Waheguru, waheguru. Even the dead body wishes - 'If I was in Toronto, I would have died in glory. There would have been make up & funeral service. There would have been party, food & photography. It would've been so great. Why did I die here? Why did I die here?' Even a dead body is given a make-up. But there is a reason behind the make up. There is a reason. Where did the prana leave from? It is due to Apana-vayu that you get the feeling of motion. When Apana-vayu is imbalanced then it causes constipation and many other problems might also arise. Then I told her - 'See, after listening to this...' She said - 'Now I have understood that whether I do japa somewhere else or not but sitting on the toilet seat, it is very important to do japa. It is very dangerous.' She said - 'Now my defecation will completely stop. What have you told me?' I said - 'I just told you the truth.' I have to say these things because in our mind we have this strange belief that this place is pure, this place is impure. My dears! Wherever you remember the ever pure God, that very place become holy. Otherwise, if there is a fight in temples & gurudwaras - will they stay holy? Where there is violence of arms, punches & kicks... In the temples or in some religious places - if there is violence, will you call that place holy? So what is the holy place? The place where we sit & remember the Lord is holy. The place where you meditate, that place is holy. Whichever time you sit & meditate, that very time is holy.
