धारणा और ध्यान का भेद AV Ep 1397 l Daily Satsang l 17th Dec 21 Anandmurti Gurumaa

The thing is... They were saying that he did not want to leave for Australia. And he used to say, I'll be a renunciate. I'll go to Gurumaa to be a hermit. I'll stay with them. They thought that "No, we'll send him to" "Australia, & seeing the glimmer there," "his mind would change." Parents do think.. No? They feel that "Well," "he is MBBS, MD," "So, let him get, you know, successful in" "the worldly affairs." But, in his heart, he wanted to join an ashram. He wanted to serve. He wanted to be a sadhu. That's why we bid him farewell like a sadhu only. We didn't bid him farewell like we would do so to any other boy. Just like a sadhu... Life didn't give him a chance, he didn't get the opportunity, destiny was not in favor, the body went away... But, this very unfulfilled desire of his, surely... His new, new life, will create a beautiful scenario. Do you know, here, At present, also... Umm... This Sunday, I named a 16 days baby. Just 16 days. Mother and father brought him here from Ahmedabad. Can you imagine, in that baby, how strong desire would've been there? With what desires his body would've gone? -That even 16 days, they couldn't wait & reached here straightaway and his name... Rather, I said, to boys, I don't give a name. I only give for girls. That is under the Shakti program. No, I don't want to give him a name. But, then, did that. Wrote the name on a piece of paper. But, they stayed. The next day, he met me. & this one was 16 days. Another one came 2-days girl child was there. 2 days old... The third day, the mother traveled from Gujarat, arrives here. "You'll leave for America in some time." "And won't be able to meet till 2 months." "So, please name our daughter." These are same children whose relation with me got created because what they wanted to do, due to several reasons, they could not do. But, see the words of Shri Krishna, I see manifesting... I see them..Manifesting... But, the mind's attachment, where does it lie? Where is the mind attached? Where have we bound it? So, this must be understood that we... The more we... The more...we free our mind from these ropes, we make our path of moksha get as much juicier and spontaneous. In Bani, there appears a line- "Tu aape fathadiye, tenu kaun chhudave Raam?" You are tied down by yourself, how can anyone else free you? Neeraj... -I have been practicing yogasana and pranayama from 4 years. And following pranayama, I feel a surge of energy in the body. The mind also empties And with opening of the eye, again, thoughts appear in the mind. Is it the the right method to touch depths in meditation I need to do, so that even on coming back, on opening of the eye, the mind stays quiet? -See, the first thing, like you are now sitting in an air-conditioned hall. So, in this hall, cool air is flowing. Right? And when you leave this hall, then, you won't get cool air... Just like that When you sit down for pranayama, or when you sit with your eyes closed, then, understand, the AC inside you becomes active. Hmm? So, you feel nice, energetic, you feel bliss, peace. And as you go out of the AC room, then? It's hot, windy, rainy, or sunny, or humidity is there... whatever is you have to bear with it. Right? Just like that, When you close your eyes, then, surely, a special state occurs, And as it is forming, it is great blessing! And the mind's job is to apply thought. Like the job of the eyes is to see, similarly, the mind's job is to think. So, if the mind thinks, then... -'It's wrong!' It's like someone says- My eyes see... My ears hear... The ear is made to hear. The eye is made to see. Similarly, the mind is made to think. Question is... Is the mind over-thinking or being thoughtful? That's' the line where we need to manage it a bit. So, we have to manage. Like children... If they watch TV from too close, then parents say, "Well, sit afar!" "Eyes will weaken..." See, with eyes, but maintain a distance. Right? Listen to music, but if you make it full blast, then the eardrum will rupture. All these sound recordists, sound engineers, nearly all of them, after a time, they just go deaf, as such loud music they hear... When they're mixing and mastering, that their power of hearing of ears weakens. So, manage! Then they say listen with headphones, don't listen with speaker. Similarly, the mind's job is to think. let it do that! But, what will it think about? And when will the mind stay quite. This should be in our control. If the mind just does not think. So, the mind need not be made inert. You don't have to kill the mind... Nah! Nah! Nah! Nah! But, the mind should be managed. Are you getting it? For things, we can act upon, let it think and work. For things, we cannot do anything, for that all thinking would be worthless. So, the mind should not think uselessly. The mind should not think about past things... The mind should not keep imagining about the future. It should think worthwhile. So what is needed, you should think. And needless, compulsive thinking should be stopped. But, not by fighting with it. Just by understanding. Like, there's a pit here. Here is the road, so where would you walk? Walk on the road and... You're seeing with same eyes. -The pit is also seen & the road is also seen. Walk on the road, don't fall into the pit. So, the mind's job is to think. Who informed, there's a pit here, avoid it? Who said, there's road here, go this side? So, how is mind's thinking wrong? Now, there's a shivir. Errr... Someone's wedding party is there... So, the mind thinks-Should I go to the wedding or the other place? And the mind says- No, no! The main wedding function has happened. Now, the rest are only showoff! Leave it, attend the shivir. See... You have option. It's 9... The mind is saying, the TV serial is also being broadcast...Should we watch, or sit at 9; do mantra sadhna? At home... Not here! At home... home... What to do? Now, a part of your mind says-Watch the serial! Doesn't matter! But, another part of mind can say that- -Let's sit down. Making choices is your job. So, the mind will reflect. Mind... Options... Mind means to give you options. Do this... Do this... Do this... Do this... and you have to use your intellect and make a right choice. So, don't say why mind is giving an option? It's the mind's job to give options. Giving choices... You choose. So, this... Yes.. When you do pranyama or when you are chanting mantra then, surely... The mind starts giving choices at that time... Then it's gone wrong! No choice now. Now, when you're doing pranayama, and mind you're doing mantra & the mind begins to give choices-do this, do this... do this.. Then...What to do?-Do nothing, only one thought with your intellect... Bring that, we'll do this later, dear mind. Keep quiet. As we say to a little child. Sit quietly. Do you? At school, it was said, -Finger on your lips! Don't move! The mind is also our child, no? Why do you fight with it? You don't fight with your child. To the child, you should know how to order the child. Give the order. It's a job for later. Why should we do it now? Secondly, When you focus properly on the breath, and inhale the breath deeply, Then, there's no space left for thoughts to come in. When you do not follow the method rightly, then, the mind has a space for thoughts. Like, I say to you, inflate your mouth, fill your mouth with air, make it a round ball, and then also speak. Do it. If you've filled your mouth with air, popping your cheeks and lips, then, how will you speak? Either you will speak or pop it? Can't do both together. In the same way, while doing remembrance, no thought! Not of the world, like what you have to prepare in dinner, think ahead of this. And you should be able think clearly and make right choices and quickly. I see that the ones who have such a mind, flickery, scattered, agile... If they go for shopping, it is a disaster! Disaster, disaster, disaster... The one who is accompanying, What he has to tolerate! Well, what do you need to buy? -Red dupatta. Went into the shop... Red dupatta... So, he says, "Sister!" "Red dupatta..." "See, this suit has come" "with chikanwork, excellent piece!" "And see," "it is summer, this is malmal, so worthy" from Bengal, just have a look!" -"Okay, show. okay, show in more patterns!" -Okay, more colos, ok, more this... ok, that..." "ok, this..." "Now pretty abstract designs" "have come, see this!" "Ready to wear. See," "how nice a line we have?" "Ok, you try it!" Handed her 10 suits... for trying... She is taking her time to try them all! Four hours are gone! He's also fully engaged. And her husband is watching what's going on? After 4 hours... She buys 3 suits. 10,000 INR per suit. Spending 30,000 out of husband's pocket; comes out. The husband ponders- "Well, she came to get a red dupatta!" [Audience laughs] He says-"You had to buy a red dupatta," "what happened about it." "Yes, for that," "we'll come tomorrow!" This... is the symbol of distracted mind. [Guruji smiles] This is the symbol of greedy mind. This is undecided and very lustful mind. It doesn't satiate, doesn't satiates at all! Now, why is this happening? The mind created a thought that -Wearing this piece of clothing, I will feel happy! -Wearing this design, I will look good! Now, the mind is yearning... At the earliest, get it! So, there's nothing good in life, so wearing a suit only I will feel good! I want suit. I want suit. I want suit! I want suit! And suit-suit is very unsuitable thing to say. It's not a good thing to do. But you people do that! Sometimes, it is a piece of cloth, other times, it a dress, other times, it's a watch, other times, it's a car, other times, it's a bike... Something or the other is there where the mind is hooked. And then the way a top moves, just like that, it moves around it... Keeps moving round and round... The mind has a habit of wandering around... It is highly habituated... to wandering around. Umm... Aha! If you've to be hooked, then its said, get hooked to the Lord, whither in the worldly things you're hooking it? Mind's clinging is not there. Lives thoughtfully. Self-control, discipline... With these, keep doing your spiritual practice. Now, see, in the day, if you resolve to sit for even two practice times... Many have written we'll surely do it on returning... We'll do asana, we'll do... all... That's a great thing! If here, you practice 4 times. Then, at home, even if you do 2 times, It will be a great thing. But, then do it. Make a choice and then do it. Don't lose it. Hold it. Hold on tight. Let me take a last question. Hemlata, from Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. -Yes... -What's the difference between dharana and dhyan, kindly guide. Dharana means to hold something in mind. When we enforce a certain thing in mind and that thing does not move, from its place. That's known as dharana. Like you hold on to a mantra. Means Dharana means to hold. Dharan means... Like to grab a thing and hold it tight. So, mantra is held onto. Now, in mind, there's nothing more left, only that mantra remains. And dhyana means... When, with that subject, the mind gets fully integrated, that itself is what we call dhyana. Think like this, if there are thousands of thoughts in mind. Doing mantra, thoughts become lesser and lesser, and then mind gets empty, no thought is left and only mantra remains... So, without achieving dharana, dhyan cannot be achieved.
