They said, "It's very nice, there is a garden etc." I said, "A palace is not a place for me to stay" People who live in palaces are very ambitious And those who can just get others' head chopped off over petty matters How many screams and curses of others would be in their palaces? I said, "That's not a place worth living" "I won't stay there? "Suggest me an option other than this palace" Then they said, "This is the house, please check" I said, "It's very good" It's very good if it's quiet, noise-free and clean Not a palace Recently I was in England and they took me They said...they sent me a very long letter There is a palace for you We have made arrangements in the palace, etc. OK! I went there When we went there, I said, "This is what you call a palace?" "I won't stay here" "This looks more like a haunted place..." "There is nothing like a palace; I don't see anything like that here" "Why did you think that I would like such a place?" This is such beautiful atmosphere I wish there was some food now that I am hungry And actually a ghost lived on that tree Who gave whatever someone wished for It's a story Now if you start asking where is that tree That we can google it and go there That's why I am just saying this "If I get hot food, that would be so good" And just like that a plate appeared from thin air Piping hot food, steam is coming out and it smelled so good And he didn't think anything He quickly grabbed the plate and started eating He finished his food and while eating he started thinking "If there was a bed" "I would have rested a little...it would have been so nice" And just like that a bed appeared A nice soft bed and a pillow....everything was there He didn't even think and promptly lied down on the bed And as he looked at the tree and thought - Could there be a ghost on this tree? And if there is a ghost, I hope it doesn't eat me up That's it! It was over! So, our mind desires very strange things And when it wants them, it throws childish tantrums that "I must get it, I must get it...." And when you get Then you get introduced to it's real form So, don't let your mind go into this foolishness Work, definitely work Work hard But remember OK, tell me something If someone starts serving you poori and parantha (Indian food) morning, afternoon, and supper time And it's your favorite Poori, parantha, poori, parantha- morning, afternoon and evening - everyday If you go and see what's there to eat - it's poori What's there to eat - parantha, what's there to eat - poori If you get that everyday Would you still love poori and parantha? "If you don't keep anything for one day and we can keep our ice-cream in your fridge for the evening party" So my mother said, "Yes of course, you can keep it" Everyone does that much So, they filled the entire fridge with ice-cream Just imagine a house with 7-8 year old kids Those who would get to eat ice-cream rarely And in front of them, the entire fridge is filled Can you believe that? It was like a dream come true So, now we are looking at our mother and thinking when will she go? Everyone else went Now when will she go? She had to go to the same house What's it called? Ladies sangeet (musical evening) There is no gents sangeet, only ladies So, as soon as my mother left I opened it and there was so much ice-cream Now they were bricks They were ice-cream bricks Now for a young child To open a brick and slicing it is very difficult So, I used my brain that if I take even one spoon from each box No one would even know because the box is closed as it is And that's it...there was a spoon, me and ice-cream I ate so much ice-cream that day And opening the fridge repeatedly caused their ice-cream to melt So, I didn't even need to open the box It was already melted Just take the spoon and eat, take the spoon and eat... Then go and check in the street that my mother is not back and nobody is there to get the ice-cream Then go again At that time If I say very precisely, it was pistachio ice-cream The green colored pistachio ice-cream And vanilla I cannot eat pistachio ice-cream to this day! This is a very old incident But even today if I see pistachio ice-cream, I think - no I can't eat this Anyway, I just eat a little bit but So, if we want to bore someone from the world Someone went to a Mahatma and bowed down Mahatma said, "May Ishwara fulfill all your desires" He got very happy that Mahatma said, may every desire be fulfilled Now his desire was that he liked three women And now Baba said that may Bhagwan fulfill all your desires One had a lot of money, the other was very beautiful And the third one was very intelligent He liked all three of them It so happened that a situation was created that he married all three And then one day, his cheating was exposed Then those three wives beat him up really badly They broke his bones badly They snatched all his money and belongings When you get in relationships with powerful people When they break, they break with a lot of power So, they beat him black and blue, and left him half-dead Somehow he got saved and got treated He went back to the same Mahatma He said, "Mahatma ji! Keep me at your feet, there is nothing in the world" Baba said, "Come son, the job is done - come" He would have met one woman at one time He would live with her for a few years, fight and get divorced Then he would meet the second one, then fight and get divorced Then he would look for the third one...then....then How much time would have got wasted So, he met three at the same time And the three of them messed him up so bad That he just left the world He said, "Baba, I would mop the floors here but I won't return to the samsara" So this Sant used to say to everyone he met - "May Bhagwan fulfill all your desires" Because until your desires in the world have been fulfilled Until then you run after the world The day your desire gets fulfilled Then you bang your own head That why did it get fulfilled? If you get a little bit and only sometimes, then you still desire it If you get too much altogether, desire aside You wouldn't even want to look at it There is a poetry which says - the world would keep running away when I was desirous of it 'Talab' means desire The world would keep running away when I desired for it Now that I have discarded the it(world), it's desperate to come to me When you run after the world, the world is always ahead of you You can never catch hold of it When you discard desires of the world, it comes and falls at your feet So one said, "I will just leave it then" But if you have this desire in mind that you will get it after discarding it Remember that you won't get it even then Forsaking means forsaking for real Because you didn't forsake it for real from your mind That's why what is 'vasana' (desire)? It's just a search for happiness and nothing else And if you start fulfilling your desire for happiness from within Your inner journey starts happening You start giving some time When you start experiencing joy in mantra chanting and meditation What to even say now? I sing a bhajan which has a line that Who desires the world now? Just make me crazy and that's enough I have no desire of the world now Who desires the world now? Just make me crazy and that's enough If there is no wine in my hand, just make me drink through your eyes and that's enough Now imagine if someone gets these two drops Of this nectar if bliss Then what desire is left after that? Which desire? Then he doesn't renounce the world, it happens on its own. Like after marriage, if a girl starts coming to meet her parents everyday Then the parents will ask, "Is everything OK at your house? Why do you come everyday?" And if the daughter is really happy with her husband If she is happy with her in-laws Then the parents keep calling her to meet them She keeps saying, "I shall come..." But she doesn't go Why? They say, "It's a good thing that she is happy in her husband's home" So, if in this world You get too attached Then you don't fall in love with Paramatman If you are completely in love with Paramatman Then it doesn't happen here There is only one mind- either it's here or there Gopis say to Udhao Ji, 'There are not ten or twenty minds of ours, there was just one which went with the Shyama (Krishna), how do we worship your Ish?' There are not two minds, there is just one Ahh...it's up to you in which direction you want to take your mind Otherwise, the nectar of love, bliss and meditation Is attained through lot of prayers and sometimes through grace When you get it- Then one becomes crazy And when the mind becomes crazy in the nectar of Guru, love and bliss Then you can place a million dramas of this world in front of him He will say, "This is not of interest to me anymore" "You do what you want" "Not now" How long will one remain foolish? So until there is no sense, discerning wisdom and Divine knowledge The world will seem very nice and you would want to run after it like crazy But the day discerning wisdom gets born within us or Umm... If love for Guru is born in our heart Or if love for Ishwara is born in our heart Then this love is such a fire That burns away all desires of your mind It's magic, I would say This Divine love is just magic, it's a miracle If it happens to come in your heart Then you don't have to change your mind Then you don't have to fight with your mind Then you don't have to suppress your worldly desires All worldly desires got kaput...gone! Where? Don't know Vanished! But when and how this Divine love will shower on you It's something very mysterious It can't be predicted It can't be told, it can't be Said You receive the grace when you receive it! Now this grace Ahh...very fortunate people receive this Mind got totally absorbed during kirtan You went to have darshan of a Sant and the mind got totally absorbed Listening to knowledge during Satsang, the mind got totally absorbed And one whose mind becomes totally absorbed Then know that that the fire of love has just caught him Now no one can get the person rid of it No one can divert him And if it's not there Then you may go to many temples and satsangs Nothing will happen Nothing will happen even then But even if two drops of this nectar of Prabhu's love comes in you Mind gets so satisfied and content That the mind doesn't need anything else Then it is content When it's content within itself then the mind is in tranquility It's in peace So if the mind is giving you pain Then this means just one thing That there is still ignorance in the mind And because of that ignorance, something or the other entices the mind Not a problem I say that there is no problem in that either If it's enticing you, then you should get enticed By the time you'll understand, no one knows how much time would have gone by And life is so precious, so previous, so precious... That you shouldn't let it go waste That's why I say, satsang is necessary Sitting face to face and listening is necessary When you listen being face to face Then you receive the impact of that place and energy of that Sant And yes then it comes in your own use only So, this is not a fight that a desire is arising in the mind and we should fight it Why is it arising, why, why.....? Desire is arising which means the root of ignorance is still there So, improve your discerning wisdom Improve your contemplation When your discerning wisdom and contemplation will be good And you keep doing your yogic practices with continuity Then that one moment definitely comes when Everything gets left behind and the mind becomes still Whether it happens with grace, with disciplined practice or with both It's the same thing It happens...that is more important Like if someone listens to the classical music Umm... If one has the understanding of the classical music And the person singing in front is singing in one note He is hitting the right notes So he just catches hold of the listener's mind He stops it! There will be no idea how much time has gone by Just like that, you sat down for mantra chanting and pranayama You closed your eyes and you are contemplating And while contemplating, the mind becomes so still The mind just stopped That's it Just remember that which you are looking for will be found within yourself You won't find anything outside Let me say it again that the samsara is not bad Your crazy race is bad Don't be crazy Don't stay blind Just open your eyes and look, reflect, know and then do something Alright?
