This is cold pressed coconut oil it has not been heated - heat extracts more oil but when the oil is extracted without heating there is less oil extracted but it contains good fat, especially coconut oil for ladies that have hormonal imbalances, such as polycystic ovarian disorder (PCOD) problematic skin, and hair they should definitely take one big spoon of this coconut oil you could even take two spoons and this will not increase your cholesterol rather it will control the level of triglycerides your LDL and HDL becomes well balanced our body needs good fats so it is good to take this. Now winter is approaching, and according to Ayurveda, this is the season to use sesame oil even in cooking! Whenever I am in the kitchen in winter then I will cook vegetables in sesame oil and if I am preparing the base of a dhaal (lentils) as they say in Punjabi, the tharka.. then I will use sesame oil - or dhesi ghee so this beautiful golden oil this sesame oil, take one spoon of this neat it will help with joint pains, rheumatoid arthritis, hair loss, it is very good for the skin it is very beneficial for joints and ligaments the extra benefit with sesame oil is that if you use it for head massage, then it will loosen the accumulated kapha (phlegm) so the next time you perform jal or sutra neti, it will loosen the accumulated kapha (phlegm) so the next time you perform jal or sutra neti, then all that accumulated kapha will be removed from the body if you have a headache, or a migraine.... for migraine coconut oil is very good but if your body is chronically congested, and you have a chesty cough then take half a spoon of sesame oil one large spoon of honey add one spoon of tulsi (indian basil) powder and if possible, a little kantkaari and mix this with a little sitopaladi powder especially for children & the elderly, 1-2.5 grams even up to 3 grams can be taken with no issues because of the addition of honey and the sesame oil is essential in this so what this will do is help the nasopharynx area the most important..our mustard oil! this is very good for cooking dry vegetables hot pressed oils contain harmful components after heating chemicals which are harmful to the body and it is hard to find pure oils because often palm oil is exported in which colours and fragrances are added and are sold under the guise of mustard/coconut etc. if you can get it extracted in front of your eyes then that is great. I was saying mustard oil in the winter seasons rub one spoon on the soles of your feet you will sleep well your eyesight will improve cloudy vision can be treated Now the teeth sometimes get infected which left untreated can reach the root canal for this, take 1/2 spoon of mustard oil on your palm with a big pinch of rock salt mix it with the oil and rub it on your teeth massage your gums with it for sensitive teeth this is very helpful so there is no need to change your toothpaste, just mustard oil with salt mixed into it and just massage your teeth and gums with this and that's it! You won't have to visit your doctor. See in these difficult times the more you can stay home, the better try to avoid going out to the doctors, as they have greater challenges to manage currently OK, going back to this sesame oil although this was discussed in December during the winter Rishikesh meditation retreat you were given a calender...do you recall this? Dincharya (Ayurvedic day schedule) one of the things it mentioned was gandush did you read it or not..? if not then read it when you go back - bad children! what is gandush? take two big spoons of sesame oil not coconut or mustard no other oil, only sesame oil put two big spoons of sesame oil in your mouth do not swallow it...keep it in your mouth and swirl it around in your mouth continuously keeping it in the mouth for 7 - 10 minutes Ayurvedic texts call this gandush (oil pulling) what effect does it have? It strengthens the gums your teeth will not erode, it will alleviate dental pain, prevent cavities your own set of teeth will see you through your life otherwise if you lose your teeth then its time for expensive dentures dental work is very expensive these days so sesame gandush is to be done in the morning you can even take a shower at the same time while swirling the oil in your mouth after 10 minutes spit it out, don't swallow it! while swirling the oil in your mouth after 10 minutes spit it out, don't swallow it! don't drink it, spit it out then rinse your mouth with some lukewarm water if you do this the teeth remain in good condition and those with good teeth have good intestines those with healthy intestines have good teeth! teeth and intestines, intestines and teeth they are interconnected a small tip for maintaining intestinal health now I've opened up the Ayurvedic treasure chest I'll share this with you too one day per week, drink just warm water if you have diabetes or you suffer with acidity in the case of diabetes don't eat fruit have something like a soupy khichadi (rice & dhaal) if you suffer with acidity then you can eat sweet fruit so a little sweet fruit - no milk, tea or coffee just fruit and you can have some herbal tea for example tulsi, (Indian holy basil), cinnamon whatever you like, lemongrass tea.. fennel tea, cumin tea once a week give the stomach, intestines a break say 'today we are not going to trouble you at all!' no heavy dhaals, no paratahs '...nothing, dear intestines, you rest today' and what will this do? The next day the intestines will work well and what will this do? The next day the intestines will work well the appetite will be good, you will digest well and the diseases which are caused by diet issues will be resolved this is why our sages said if it is Ekadashi, fast, if it is full moon, fast if it is Sankranti (start of the month), then fast If it Monday, fast, if it is Tuesday, fast but what does it mean to fast? either no food and just drinking warm water or have fruit or if there is some difficulty then just eat khichadi but the intestines should be rested for a day if the intestines are good the teeth are good teeth and intestines good, means you're good! then you won't be able to make any excuses that we are ill how can we do yoga aasan? ..then there will be no excuses! how can we get up early, its too hard! OK so these oils I've told you to take one spoon of in summer take coconut, in winter take sesame in the autumn, you can use mustard oil for cooking not only do you get good fat from drinking these but also many micro-nutrients from which the body benefits greatly for example, people are often calcium deficient so they take calcium tablets but within a 2-4 years, you will develop stones due to calcium deposits causing issues in the bladder, kidney sometimes an operation is required although in homeopathy, if there are stones in the kidney, bladder, urethra, there is a very effective homeopathic medicine which removes the stone within 3-4 days but if it is in the gall bladder, then what? it's a big problem so if there is a calcium deficiency then, once again, sesame oil sesame - pure calcium! drink a spoon of sesame oil calcium deficiency, which is common in women won't be an issue eat a little makhana, that will help makhana is also pure calcium so, being wise with your diet not eating until you are stuffed and bloated and then be asking for digestive aids An interesting incident comes to mind.. once I was in Delhi for a gathering of sages all of us were going to someone's house for lunch we were walking, the house wasn't too far the Swami Ji that was walking next to me he felt around in his pocket & took out a container he turned and asked me, will you take some? I thought, God knows what it is I asked, what is it? He said, this is a digestive formula I said, but we haven't even eaten yet he said, no, this will ignite my hunger I said, no my appetite is fine, thank you. so he took some of that formula as he was walking we all ate lunch ..and I saw just how much he ate! he filled his stomach to the brim! after this when we were walking back he again produced a container from his pocket I said, now what is this Swami Ji? He said, this is so I can digest all that I ate! ...will you take some? it was lavan bhaskar.. I said, no, my digestion is good. So two containers in his pocket, one appetizer and the other to digest what has been eaten Good lord, if you're not hungry don't eat! but sometimes we eat and eat out of habit sometimes for taste if you eat for your tastebuds it will create diseases so our food can become our illness or our remedy
