Now, see if the world is like a jail and the Jeeva is here, according to his actions and desires then the question arises - all the Mahatmas, the great exalted beings, the sages, why are they here then? see, it's not just the prisoners who are there in the jail the jailer too is there in the jail the prison staff is also working in the jail the doctor who works in the jail is also there, the nursing staff is there, the cook is there, the jail superintendent is also there they too are going to the jail everyday but they going to the jail and the prisoner being in the jail, is there a difference between the two or not? So, the birth of sages and Mahatmas their arrival in this world, and the birth of an ordinary Jeeva in the world- is there a difference between the two or not? there's a huge difference out of compassion out of their love they come again and again..manifesting in a human form, they like to come again and again because it is only in a human's body that contemplation, being in divine remembrance, singing and being in the company of the realised ones, can happen so, a Mahatma isn't bound by any compulsions Kabir Sahib had no compulsions but still Kabir comes there's no karmic debt on Charan Das Ji's head, but even then he comes Dadu Dayal has no karmic debts, still he comes when Dadu Dayal comes, he transforms a disciple like Sahjo Bai Ji into a Sant and then there's Swami Charan Das Ji Maharaj, who established 88 disciples on the stature of a Sant he had 88 disciples! and all of them were beautiful in their own way, they were Mahatmas, embodiment of the Goddess, embodiment of divinity belonging to the stature of a sant there are only a few who wake up from the slumber, rest of the world is asleep anyway there are only a few who understand the Gyana (higher wisdom), for rest of the people you can see money, money, money... They are caught in the game of running after the wealth Now, one likes the Guru but this does not mean that dispassion too arises in you one likes to listen however, despite listening, awakening does not happen within then there are old habits of again falling asleep, of being lost in the Maya (illusion) then again the old habits of holding attachments, anger, aversions the dealings, emanating from one's karma continue to arise; so, one does not destroy attachments of the mind so, trapped being a jeeva, birth keeps happening again and again and new relationships continue being forged; what you regard as 'new', in reality there's nothing new, they are all old in nature it's just that sometimes, you are the father and at other times, you are the son sometimes, you are the mother and other times, you become the daughter and in some circumstances, the gender also changes that sometimes, one is a man and other times a woman; sometimes, a woman and other times a man but the mind is the same so, the 'I' attached with the mind.... and then the mistake that occurs I am this body and then the arrangements are made to make this body happy, so how should one do it? if the body has to be given pleasure, then objects are needed if things have to be bought, then money is needed to acquire money, one needs to work then, one doesn't work only to acquire things; one works to acquire things and then show them off to others, that - 'see, I own so much stuff' he does not lead a life of simplicity does not live his life with humility; lives his life being angry, being greedy forms relationships out of greed- keeps forming such relationships then, the web of karma becomes inescapable so, the one who is trapped in the web of karma, he is Jeeva but, technically what is the jeeva made up of because of the mind, because of the association of the 'I' with the mind Now, you will ask- why did this 'I' and mind conjoin? so, the question of this 'why' doesn't arise It simply Is have you ever noticed sometimes that little kids wish to hold their own shadow when they run, then the shadow too runs; they run again and the shadow too seems to be running; they keep looking at their shadow while standing, they wish to hold it in their hands..and when they are unable to do so, they begin to cry so, when you explain it to the child that this shadow is actually yours..then is he able to understand it? in essence, I am Atman-Swaroopa, and I am Sat-chit-ananda swaroopa (truth-conscious-blissful reality) but one does not realise one's own bliss; the ignorant mind feels that pleasure is there in the outside world, one fails to realise one's own bliss the mind, being ignorant stays in this fear - 'oh! what if I die, what if I die' 'what if I die, what if I end up being alone' O, stupid person every night, in deep sleep, are you alone or not? Tell yes? in deep sleep, even if your spouse is sleeping next to you, even if your children are sleeping next to you in your bed but when deep sleep dawns, then are you alone or not Okay, are you unhappy at that time? do you feel lonely? do you become sorrowful? when you are in deep sleep, then what does the mind feel? yes? relaxation, bliss peace and, you are alone okay, then you woke up and you noticed that you are alone in the house, there's nobody around, everybody has gone somewhere for their respective works; you are alone in the house it is now that you tend to feel lonely; Alas! I am alone in the house you were alone in deep sleep as well but there was no sadness in sleep, sadness arose when you woke up, why? when you wake up, the mind thinks while in deep sleep, the mind isn't thinking at all which is why the mind does not feel sadness; So, why does sadness arise it is because of the mind's thinking and the Mahatmas say 'after waking up from sleep, if you stay aware, if you stay in your own self, if you stay meditative then would you ever feel lonely' would you ever feel it? like, what was it that you felt being in deep sleep? bliss what is there in meditation? bliss you are alone, while being in meditation; you are alone in deep sleep as well; there's bliss in both the states and when you aren't meditating, when you aren't asleep..then? Alas, Who will have tea with me, am I going to drink it all by myself I shall narrate my own story to you, when I... had left my home and I used to roam alone otherwise, I used to go to college also I did not have any friends in college, it was more like a compulsion that one has to attend college; So, I used to go to the college, attend classes and then run where? spiritual discourse! For listening to it? No, to give a discourse so, I had no friends in college and in between the classes, whenever I used to find time, I had some specific corners where I used to go and sit and when I used to feel hungry I used to go to the canteen and eat something by myself normally, people tend to stay with their friends and say - Let's go to the canteen; However, I never told anybody - Let's go to the canteen Alone, I.. used to sit in the canteen and eat something because, when we have arrived in the world all alone, then what's the problem in sitting alone in the canteen and when I had left the home and wherever I used to feel like, sometimes I went here, sometimes there..at that time, I used to travel by bus so, when they stop to take breaks for lunch or to eat something, they take a break; now there were all girls in college who notices someone? Nobody looks at anybody; but here, everybody used to notice that where is this girl going all alone so, there used to be some slight hesitation that how should I go alone, how should I eat alone; and when one would order Dal, it'll be too much in quantity, and how much will I be able to eat all by myself there used to be meager amount of money ; so I used to think that what should I do, what should I do so at times, I ate nothing means, if the travelling was of ten to twelve hours, and I had an empty stomach, so wherever and whenever we reached afterwards, I used to go and eat there itself and then, once a thought emerged in the mind that from now onwards, life has to be led this way only so, when I anyway didn't care about the world, then why should I feel bothered about this thing now so, when the bus stopped at one place, then I got off and went and the waiter said - 'okay, you can sit here', and there were four chairs there and as I sat, he quickly placed four glasses, four napkins; I told him - 'no, it isn't required' he asked -'then are only two needed?' I answered - 'no, not even two are required' 'okay, do you need one more?' I answered - 'no, one more is also not required' he replied- 'really? are you roaming around all alone' I asked - 'Why? Does it bother you?' he replied- 'No, no' why? because, somebody alone this way he must not have seen anybody so, I sat alone and I ate by myself and I walked all by myself so, if one would look externally then it would appear that I am walking all alone but, was I really walking all alone? the only difference is this that my companion isn't visible to anybody and that companion of mine, does not need a chair and he doesn't need an extra plate or spoon or glass nothing is needed Why? because He does not have a physical form for Ishvara, a physical form....isn't there but is He always there with me or not? so, when one meditates with the eyes closed, then He is there with him; but if one opens the eyes then will He vanish somewhere so, a meditator's mind, a devotee's mind, a sant's mind is established in Lord, when he closes his eyes and when he opens his eyes, what is it that he sees outside - the world that has been created from Ishvara's Maya understand this thing - even the world and Ishvara aren't two separate entities just like a spider releases the web from its own body and whenever it wishes to do so, it again retracts that web back into its abdomen It is the 'Abhinn-Nimitt-Upaadan' cause, The web too has... emerged from the spider only, it weaves the web itself and if some insect gets stuck in that web, then it eats that up, and then again retracts the web back into its own body be it in the Hindu Dharma, or the Sikh Dharma what do they say - Ishvara produced Maya from Himself, and the world manifested and whenever He wishes, He can retract it within so, the web that was released from the spider's body, all those wires..where did all those wires come from? They came from the spider itself so, the world exists because of Ishvara, and the creator of the world is not separate from the world He pervades through the world hence, who resides in the flowers? That only It has been asked - the person says, if Paramatman and Atman are one and the same, then we.. symbols why do we worship symbols and places? Paramatman, being regarded in different forms, like Krishna, Mahadeva, Amba, how is It regarded in different forms an idol of a different deity is there in every household, is this appropriate should we worship only the Paramatman That resides within us by worshipping symbols or idols, do we receive some support, inspiration or energy...Kindly explain this to us See, there's Krishna, there's Rama, I have already explained - whose incarnations are they? Of Ishvara who you are referring to as Devi Durga, in reality.. Who is She? This Prakriti itself is referred to as Devi Durga and all those women, in whom this divinity awakened, they too are referred to as Devi Durga so, even Shankara Ji's wife is also called a Devi but, one strange thing that people do not understand sometimes is..they say- 'Parvati also worships, whom does she worship?' 'she worships Mahadevi' 'Who is this Mahadevi?' so, Bharat is one such country where Ishvara has been regarded in the feminine form, as well as in the masculine form when It can be in the masculine form, then can It not exist in the feminine form? so, there are indications Her eight arms have been shown, what are these eight arms symbolising? O brother, there are eight directions and in all those eight directions, the power of Ishvara is working..in order to demonstrate that, the form of Ashtabhavani form was created north-east south-west then combine, north, north-east south-east south-west so, these eight directions above, below so, whose power is working in all the eight directions so, if it has to be explained to some child, then how would one explain? he understands two hands of his mother, he understands two hands of his father so, the form of Devi was created and eight arms were attached to it, means...but they could not explain it properly and what did the child assume the form is this only while they intended to explain if there's an incarnation of Ishvara, can it only exist in the masculine form and not in the feminine form Hindu Dharma is pretty wonderful here, it also exists in the form of 'Varaha'
