In present times a lot of people are suffering from lack of sleep. They are not able to sleep properly. This is a thing given by this modern world that people have lost their sleep. When nature gave birth to the body, you used to sleep peacefully, look at a small baby, they can sleep for 18 hours. If they feel hungry, they eat and the baby hardly suffers from constipation, sometimes they do but for that, the milk holds the blame. We can also say that if the baby is getting mother's milk but the mother's body has some malformation then those will exist in the milk, same will go to the baby. Here, it is possible that the child has colitis pain or the stomach is upset. But normally, generally if we see the baby enjoys sleeping, eating, playing a lot, they keep falling down thousand times but they don't feel tired or broken, nothing happens. But when the race begins of studies, certificates, degrees, percentages, where to get admissions and jobs then working hours, working late, drinking coffee the whole day- free coffee in the office, free coffee, free tension, free anxiety, free jealousy from those who are better than you in terms of looks, intelligence, money, feels hostility towards them. Then there are a lot of desires in emotional relations of family, husband, wife, children, brother-sister, if some estrangement or fight happens with them then mind keeps thinking about the same. Why did this happen? Why did they say this? Why did they say that? and the confusions in life because of these confusions man has lost his sleep. If I ask which allopathy medicine has the highest sales in this world? Yes, your estimate is right. It is sleeping pills. If I ask you about happiness - modern machines, modern beds like spring bed, four layer foam bed, polyfill cover mattress, bedsheets are really nice, the mattresses are fine, everything is very good, A.C is really nice, the heaters are good too but no sleep. In relation to sleep, I remember one time in abroad 15 years before, they were selling some things, for example, they were selling oil that this is a sleeping oil, apply it on your forehead and you'll get a peaceful sleep. Then I saw they were also selling different types of teas, herbal teas, that you drink this tea and you'll get good sleep. I also saw some were selling candles too, they are infused with essential oils, you burn it in your room, you'll get a peaceful sleep Then a time came when I saw these things have come to India too, not till that ratio but the rich and privileged have the knowledge of this and they buy it also that we'll sleep on this mattress for good sleep, we'll keep this pillow and sleep peacefully, we'll light this candle for good sleep, we'll light this essential oil candle and sleep well, we'll drink this Calendula herbal tea and sleep fine. A very huge billions of dollars worth market has come up who sells sleep to mankind. I won't say sleep but they sell a dream to sleep, a desire to sleep that... please come, buy our things and you'll sleep peacefully using this. What happened? Why did it happen? The thing which the mother nature gave us and that was a beautiful sleep, where did that sleep go, why did it go! Now look, for that sleep I have to speak up This is not my area of interest but what to do, I get a lot of questions, so many letters, so many people I meet have this concern that they cannot sleep at night. I felt sorry because they considered Yoga Nidra as a medium of getting good sleep that if we do Yoga Nidra we will sleep peacefully but I request you that Yoga Nidra is not for good sleep. It can definitely benefit your body to reduce hypertension (means high BP), anxiety issues decrease, helps to stop the continuous thoughts running in the mind, but Yoga Nidra has an aim and that aim is to reach your inner consciousness and the other aim is to experience that we are not this body and senses. It is a yogic practice through which you can experience this. Mind's restfulness was never a big thing, the big thing is that it has a spiritual utility, it is a yogic meditation but I've seen people use Yoga Nidra to get sound sleep. So I thought that why not create something to get you good sleep It is such a weird thing that my area of practice is to awaken you from your sleep, my concern is to take you to the experiences of Yoga Nidra so that you do it religiously but whose peaceful natural sleep is not right, the truth is that person cannot do Yoga Nidra also. A lot of people, in the name of Yoga Nidra, snore a lot, sleep and then the aim of Yoga Nidra remains unfulfilled. When you should be awake, you sleep. So I am going to provide you a solution for this state of yours and now after Yog Nidra, Nidra is there, how can that be improved, for that I am going to you a nice Sutra, It is a practice that you will do and I firmly believe because its a matter of experience and the truth is that its a task to keep people awake, they sleep so easily but people who cannot sleep even after doing a lot of things, like I said candles, oils, creams, potions, pillows, mattresses, even after all these things sleep is missing. Now, let us understand the science behind this. Now if we talk about physical science then if there is high amount of Pitta in the body, your sleep will be affected If there is a hormonal imbalance issue in the body then your sleep will get affected if you have Pitta outbreak in your skin, stomach or anywhere else, then also your sleep will be impacted. If you have mental stress then you won't be able to sleep and if the emotional trauma, confusion in relations always keeps you entangled then also you will not get sound sleep. So we should take care of all these things. There's small suggestion I am giving you now. Firstly, from a good Ayurveda Acharya get your pulse diagnosed. Now because of COVID-19 a lot of Vaidaya (ayurveda acharya) are not willing to check the pulse of patients but things are getting better, COVID-19 is decreasing and very soon these facilities will be available in ashram too where the Vaidaya (ayurveda acharya) will check your pulse. If there is Pitta outbreak, so its necessary to treat that. If there is a hormonal imbalance, if the periods are not on time for the ladies, have complain of fibroid or PCOD, so all this is a signal that the hormones are not working properly so a medicine should be taken for that. Thirdly, if you eat fried, roasted or very spicy food at night and sleep just after that then know this for sure that spicy food you ate have kept you awake. Late evening if you drink strong coffee or strong tea then too, I have seen in some cases that coffee keeps you awake, you are not able to sleep. Tension keeps you awake, coffee keeps you awake, spices keep you awake, hormones also keeps you awake, your desires too keep you awake if you want to meet someone, somebody coming from a far off place, some wedding or some function, excitement is there, a lot of excitement, how will you sleep, it is a mess now. So correct you body's angle. If your Vata, Pitta, Kapha are in excess amount, Air in the body is imbalanced then sleep won't be proper, Pitta will be imbalanced then also sleep will be affected and Kapha is increased in the body means sinuses are blocked then too you won't get sound sleep so firstly look at your body's side that your body should be balanced. Now to balance your body, I have a suggestion for you to eat light, like we are doing at the ashram and I am very glad that after understanding this, a lot of people are following this at their household that is eating just twice a day, first time around 9:30-10:00 in the morning, second time in the evening around 5:30-6:00, after this don't eat anything. If you follow this rule properly, whatever you ate will get digested easily. Slowly and gradually with time, the balance of Vata, Pitta, Kapha in your body also will get correct. Second thing, before you sleep, keep night routine very simple, so your evening meal should be around 5:30 to 6:00 or lately by 7.If you eat more late then be ready happily for not getting sound sleep. Second thing, if you sleep also, there are some people who can eat and sleep directly. What will happen then, their digestion will be spoiled Their system will get down, which we say gets overloaded. That overloaded system will exist and in 10 to 15 years be a reason for diseases. Then what will you do? Go to a doctor and take medicines, then suffer from the side effects of tablets. Its better to change your meal timings. After your evening meal, if possible, go for a walk If you cannot go for a walk for some reason then sit in 'Vajarasan' at your home. If you sit in 'Vajarasan' for 10 to 15 minutes, and press the big toe of your left leg with the big toe of the right leg, if you sit for 15 minutes or 10 minutes, up to self capacity, or 20 minutes This will be very helpful in your digestion. There is a rule of the night routine in Ayurveda that First, legs below the knees, hands below the elbow and your face Wash them with lukewarm water in winters and cold water in summers then dry them. After drying them, use coconut oil in summers and sesame oil in winters, massage your feet and the soft part of the ear which is called earlobe in english and you have to tell me what to call it in Hindi, and put half spoon oil on the centre of your head and use your own hands to serve your head. Your hands alone eventually come to your rescue. After doing this, go to your bed and don't lie down directly, sit for 10 to 15 minutes like you sit for meditation. Do your mantra chanting, breathing or listen to any classical music or rhythmic tune for night and after that the special thing that I have brought for you today i.e., a track named Nidra that you will get in our application Amrit Varsha. I hope you know how to access the Amrit Varsha application and what is the method It is put in the Meditation section by the name of 'Nidra'- play the track, switch off the lights, switch off your phone. I want to say one important thing regarding the phone that its better if you put your phone in airplane mode or much better if you switch it off completely. Phone should not be on. Not to keep your phone near the pillow and check social media late night, keep checking others pictures, looking at your own photos and admiring yourself, getting jealous by looking at the pictures of other people thinking we didn't visit this place yet and they already did Why to put your mind in these tangles! If your sleeping time is 9 pm or 10 pm then keep yourself away from social media 2 hours before you sleep. I call this 'Social media fasting' , for that time period, switch off your phone and when you sit on you bed, initially relax your body then lie down then after that you have to follow the instructions given in the Nidra track and I hope that your natural sleep will come back through me with the help of this track. However, in Ayurveda there are a lot of good medicines- brahmi, jatamansi, avipattikar They are such chemicals that calm your brain and relax it. But still I would recommend you to ask your Vaidya (ayurveda acharya) because every person has a different body and different needs so the Vaidya will advice you that which medicine will suit you the best, all three, one of them or both. So, I hope with the help of this Nidra you get your natural sleep back. You enjoy a sound sleep of 6 to 8 hours. If the dreams come they should be of the master, at some spiritual place, near river Ganga, at some mountain, at a spiritual camp, doing meditation, serving the master, looking at the flowers, playing with the butterflies, if the dreams come they should be like this and this is possible only when you will do good actions, keep your thoughts pure as your manners, your thoughts, your feelings impact your Nidra. If we take care of all these things in the mind- your meal should be easily digestible and fried, tangy, stale, processed, refined- stay away from refined foods if possible cut it out from your life. This body is god's temple, the Almighty Lord is present here in every part of your body, in your consciousness, It is your soul. That is why put your body to good use, don't misuse it. Keep your body healthy and be aware that you are not going to stay long in this body. This game is for 60, 70, 80 years or maybe even 40 for some, I have heard this, may be you have too. When does the death arrive depends on the prarabdha. Our age is related to our karmas too, so we don't know, till when the body will stay alive and when the pranas will leave the body. So why to stress about the world! why to go crazy after it! Give some time to yourself. Discipline, meditation, dedication, devotion, devotion towards master and praying every minute, Live your life like this.
