[Music] chapter 8 says the key to know the sense of brahman is the prana traveling through sushumna and getting established in sahasrara does it mean that the prana going up is essential for realization of brahma gita right see gita talks about many ways to reach the same destination so one part is of the raji yoga and in raja yoga they are giving a system of the yoga and especially the raja yoga raja yoga means awakening your kundalini establishing it into sahasrara after moving through the all the chakras chakras are the energy junction boxes like if we have electricity produced at the dam and then from the dam we are making it travel all the way to city so from city powerhouse then through the wires traveling to your area then from area to your house in between there are the junction boxes the powerhouse where the controls are then the local controls are then the meter in your house which has again the control so all these energy boxes or should we say the chakras in your pranic body are holding these energy centers so beginning from muladars to sadistan to manipurak to anahat to the shuddha to agya and then finally to the sasrat so that process is one process but that doesn't mean that it is the only process number one because everybody has a different kind of mindset and everybody has a different kind of likings to a particular sadhana so the path of yoga is one way and in this it is all about establishing your pranic sakti and experiencing the samadhi now samadhi of yoga is different from the gyana samadhi samadhi is not just of one type there can be a samadhi in part of devotion bhakti there can be samadhi in the path of hatha yoga there can be samadhi in the path of gyan and there can be a samadhi which is called jar jar means in not samadhi useless see at the moment the ignorance again the sanskrit word is again the again is sitting in your intellect and if we submerge this intellect into samadhi then it is like you are submerging your again two in that state where the intellect goes into total silence unperturbed undisturbed but then how will the again be removed if the intellect is not present got it so the samadhi is actually part of the preparation no doubt the nirvikalpa samadhi is going to give a boundless bliss to the practitioner but no samadhi is going to stay for eternity whether it is a yoke samadhi or a bhakti samadhi or a gyana samadhi any samadhi which will happen will stay for some time give you great experience and then it will go away so that point has to be understood very clearly uh if somebody is say stuck with the state of deep sleep and wonders that why can't i be always in deep sleep why do i have to get up and go through this mess of waking state is a impractical thing to ask for so the waking state dream state deep sleep state in sanskrit we call it jagrat that's a waking state swapna the dream state sushupti the deep sleep state so all these states are supposed to come and go no yogi in the world yeah if yogi is trying to fool others and then that yogi can claim whatsoever but no like-minded wise yogi can never say that my samadhi doesn't breaks ever every samadhi will come and every samadhi will go hence an aspirant who is on the path of vedantic knowledge will never be possessive of samadhi it is part of the preparation for self-realization true but it's not something that you have to uh hold it it's like holding the deep sleep for whole life how well would that be you need to sleep yes sure but then you need to wake up also that's what your mind is going to do even if we if somebody takes an overdose of sedatives or some sleeping pills might sleep for three days or four days or something but then again the person will wake up and if he doesn't then it's a medical calamity for that person so this is the state which is explained as per the path of raj yoga that sadhak sits down awakens the sushumna awakens the prana establishes in the sasarara and stays there for that limited period of time to experience the incomprehensible and incomparable bliss and stillness of the mind and it is not that the person is going to attain the brahman because gita's whole message is that brahman you are already it is matter of realization but you haven't seen yourself as you are because the body identification is so strong mind identification is so strong so am i something minus the body mind unit samadhi gives you that experience that yes you are when the mind is not functioning then the intellect is not functioning you are not aware of the body totally but you are established in yourself it's like you know we give a small example that you were looking for something in a dark room so you littered the lamp you did your search you found the thing and then you extinguished that lamp i'm talking about the old days or say if you are camping so um oil is very precious and scarce so you will not be wasting it by keeping it on or you are using some emergency battery for your torch so you will use the torch find the thing and then switch the battery off so samadhi in a way is like switching the battery off of mind and intellect but what is the objective is it just to experience the joy for some time and then come out or is it because you are contemplating on your true self and in raja yoga why the awakening of sushumna becomes important is because that is going to give you a extra extra shot of that state of mind where everything is gone in silence and the mind is in total stillness and then you know it who you are because as i always say is the mind is the only barrier in between your own realization so the pranic sadhana or the awakening of the kundalini or the awakening of the chakras as per the raja yoga becomes very important but that is one way there are four ways in bhagavad-gita where sri krishna is teaching us how you can realize brahman so it's not just the only one way but it is one of the way second question how to feel your inner presence all the time see you you forget your own presence when you get lost in the mind thinking are in the old habits of seeing the body mind as me as i it's not you say my it is i the obsession or the possessiveness is so great that anything happening to the body you think it has happened to you or anything happening to the mind is oh it's to me to alienate yourself from the body mind the thinking emotion unit of the mind to separate yourself from that that is the whole homework which you have to do because for eons we have seen this body as me and i and mind as i and so this this is something a bad habit which we have created although every night you leave your mind and body awareness in deep sleep everybody is experiencing that mindlessness bodylessness right but because the ignorance is so dark and opaque that they can't experience what is happening again he also will have a very deep sleep not just samadhi even deep sleep gyani will also have that the realized person is called gyani but the last awareness of body mind again he knows it's not to me sleep is coming to the mind body is going into that slumber okay fine all good i am the witness of the state and then the sleep goes off in front of me and i am the seer of this day too when sleep is coming and when sleep is going and when sleep is happening it's not happening to me it's happening in front of me in again sanskrit we will say saksi witness i am the witness i don't have to become a witness i am witness but the only trouble is that we lose our this knowledge because the mind is too dirty polluted to distracted to broken and always staggering on the alcohol of ignorance question is what is collective unconsciousness and how to pierce through it you said it is the closest layer to the brahman it's not that you can pierce it it's not that you it's just by sheer understanding see mind is child of this collective unconsciousness and you cannot see birth of your own mother can you so this collective unconsciousness in sanskrit is called maya and mind is child of maya so how will this baby mind see the birth of mother maya but it's through the wisdom alone that this understanding dawns upon so there is a exactly not a clear cut away which i would say okay this is how you will remove it it's like can you hold your own wrist with the same hand now we can see the wrists we can hold other wrists with that hand meaning with the right hand we cannot hold the right wrist but we can hold the left wrist right so there are certain limitations to this mind and this mind which we have is really stupid [Music]
