Ik Onkaar Satgur Prasad- One absolute existence pure consciousness embodiment of bliss. Salok Mahalla 9 Gun gobind gaaiyo nahi janam akaarath kin- If one doesn't sing the glories of the Lord, such a life goes in vain. Kaho Nanak har bhaj mana jeh bidh jal kao meen. ||1||- Thus says Nanak, meditate upon the Lord just like a fish meditates on water Bikhian sio kahe rachio nimakh na hohi udaas- Why do you remain engrossed in the objective world without detaching, even for a moment? Kaho Nanak bhaj har mana parai na jam ki faas. ||2||- Thus says Nanak, meditate upon Hari, O mind, and you shall not be caught in the noose of Death. Ŧarnapo eho hi gaio lio jara tan jeet- Your youthfulness has passed away like this, and old age has overtaken your body Kaho Nanak bhaj har mana audh jaat hai beet. ||3||- Thus says Nanak, meditate upon the Lord, for your life is fleeting away fast! Birad bhaio sujhai nahi kaal pahuchio aan- Your body has grown old, and you still don't discern that the time to leave has come Kaho Nanak nar baavre kio na bhajai bhagvaan ||4||- Thus says Nanak, O insane human, why do you not meditate upon the Lord? Dhan dara sampat sagal jin apunī kar maan- Wealth, spouse, and all the worldly possessions that you assume as your own In mai kacho sangī nahī Nanak saachi jaan ||5||- None of these will go along in the end; O Nanak, know this as the ultimate truth. Patit udhaaran bhaye haran har anaath ke naath- The Redeemer of sinners, the Destroyer of despair, and the Guardian of every orphan Kaho Nanak teh jaanea sada basat tum saath ||6||- Thus says Nanak, realize the One who always stays by your side Ŧan dhan jeh ṯo ko diou taan sio neh na keen- The One who gave you your body and wealth, you are not in love with Him. Kaho Nanak nar baaware ab kio dolaṯ deen ||7||- Thus says Nanak, O insane human, why does your faith shake now? tan dhan sanpai sukh deyo ar jeh neeke dhaam ||- The One who gave you the body, wealth, possessions, peace, and grand mansions kahu nanak sun re manaa simarat kaeh na ram ||8||- Thus says Nanak, listen, O mind: why don't you meditate upon Rama? sabh sukh dhaataa ram hai dhoosar naahin koi ||- Rama is the Giver of happiness;
