Yesterday I was watching Shrimad Bhagavata Purana, first Skanda, so there this description comes that by doing outer works outside efficiency comes and doing inside job inside efficiency comes. Means a soldier is there, he wields sword, so daily he practices with his sword. So he becomes a very good swordsman. A horseman rides horse daily, his art of riding horses becomes very good. But who is devotee of God, he everyday trains this horse like mind that mind doesn't run here and there. Mind only remember god's name Because this is Shrimad Bhagavata and this preaching is given by Narada ji to Dhruva. He says that you chant 'Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaya' daily And five years old, Dhruva adopts this thing so well that leaving eating and drinking and his mind becomes so Vishnumayi and Bhagavata says that when Vishnu appeared then also Dhruva was not opening his eyes. Why? Because he was seeing the four-armed Vishnu in his mind. Means in his assumption Vishnu's image was so established like in open eyes you see any tree, stone, mountain and you like that, the river so your mind feel connected to it. Similarly Dhruva ji's mind was attached to the image of Vishnu's holding a conch, disc, mace, lotus such a way that Vishnu who has appeared outside, even he couldn't move his mind. Vishnu ji also thinks that I have come for him and he is not looking at me. the dharana of Vishnu ji, which Dhruva had in his Chitta Vishnu had to remove it first. When the image of Vishnu got removed from his mind, Dhruva was restless that whom I was remembering, whose image I was viewing where did it go? When he opened eyes what did he see? He is in front. He himself is standing opposite to him. So whom I created with my imagination, I will search him or I will see the one who is present in front of me? Vishnu ji also asks that Dhruva you were agonized to have a sight of me. I was in front of you and still you were not seeing me. So Dhruva says who appeared in my mind, he was also you only. But now doubt arose. Now see listen to the other side of Bhagavata also. Dhruva's darshan (vision) didn't end in just having a vision only. The truth is that Dhruva then had a satsang (discourse) with Vishnu ji also Dhruva asked only one question that whom I was seeing with closed eyes in my heart and now whom I am seeing outside with open eyes, what is the difference in between these two? Little flashback. Dhruva was wanted to sit in his father's lap. Stepmother Suruchi had pulled him away that to sit in this lap you would have taken birth from me. Now who has taken birth from me, Uttam, my son, name was also Uttama now he will sit, you go back, you can't sit. Dhruva’s mother Suniti had made him understand that son I definitely might have done some sin act in my past that I being the wife of king had never been his beloved and queen Suruchi might have definitely done some good deeds that she is so beloved to the king. So this is my bad luck that you took birth from my womb and now you are also not getting it like I didn't get love from the king. Similarly, you are also not getting. Five year old child Dhruva says to his mother, 'mother don't say like that, you see now I will do austerity. If doing austerity leads to virtues then I will do austerity. You see, the son born from your womb will achieve which position in front of whom, lap of a king or the royal throne will be nothing, you don't worry And they say Dhruva went into the forest in search of God where he got Narad ji. And listening to advice of Narada ji he did penance. And when Vishnu ji himself is in front of him then he kept his curiosity that whom I was seeing inside who is he? And now who is in front of me, who is he? In this condition it is said Vishnu ji made Dhruva sit on his lap, first point. He was removed from his father's lap. First of all he made him sit on his lap that this father who takes birth and die he was removed from his father's lap, leave him what to worry about it? You sit on the lap of father of the world So on the right thigh Vishnu ji made Dhruva sit and then with the last end of the conch touched Dhruva's cheek. So here in Purana, there is much symbolism. touched with the last end of the conch means conch is Veda, so what becomes the last end of Veda? Vedanta. So Shri Hari Vishnu made Dhruva listen to Vedanta, where the determination... Now what he made him listen, that Bhagavata is not saying. This is the subject of Upanishad This is not the subject of Bhagavata. So that time only this much is said that the end of the conch was touched to Dhruva's ear. and Dhruva acquired the knowledge of all Vedas. Now when knowledge happened then he got to know that Satchidananda (truth-conscious-bliss-all pervasive) who we say Brahman and in that entity there are many Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh. And with those entities, Dhruva is also born and in the level of Atman who I am Vishnu is also the same. So from Dhruva's determination moved from duality to non-duality Let me say you, You won't get this detail there that is why it is always said that you should listen to any Purana or any scriptures from some Mahatma You yourself will understand the things only that much, how much intelligence you have. So after achieving the knowledge Vishnu ji said since you have performed the austerity I will give you boon now I am give you the boon of a firm position from that position you will never be deprived of and it will remain with you always. and if we say symbolically then the Dhruva star that is there in the sky, it is dedicated to him. In his name the pole star that we call in English. The pole star is named after the great devotee Dhruva. Now the thing to be understood is that which is achieved with great austerity, did Dhruva had go with Vishnu to his Lok? No. Dhruva came back. His father also came back after him He asked his pardon and said, son, you come back come home, come to palace because Narada ji had done two works On one side he had given advice to Dhruva ji that how to do austerity. On the other side he went to the palace and scolded the king that what stupidity have you done! Do you even know how great soul has taken birth in your home and you insult him? So king realized his mistake, so crying and sobbing he went after him. Till then it is said, he had vision of Vishnu and self-realization also happened The king said let's go Dhruva ji came back home. He didn't get angry, make faces and sit in the jungle. He went back to home and has ruled and he lived the life of a great king.
