What is the most worthwhile thing to do in life Anandmurti Gurumaa (with English subtitles)

Life is so temporary that Kabir Sahib compares it with a water bubble, compares it with the morning star. Like in the morning, when the night fades away and the sun has also not risen, then for a while innumerable shining stars are visible, so much moon's light is also visible, its shape is also gleaming if its four days before or after Puranmashi otherwise stars are visible even if it is Amawasya night. You should try doing this exercise which I am telling you at your own homes. The exercise would be that, nowadays the sun rises around 6:15 AM. So you, from 6:00 AM onwards sit at a place or in a direction where you can see the star look at it, do Tratak (continuously staring at a single point) on the star and in few moments, the beautiful star, as soon as the intensity of sunlight increases the star won't be visible. The light emitted by the stars visible in the morning is for such a short duration. Alpa means 'less'. So, the shine which is present for barely some time cannot be made a foundation of life, but it can be a nice experience, a very nice experience. But you should remember this at that moment, that just like the morning star vanishes all of a sudden if seen continuously through your eyes. The star doesn't go anywhere, just that because the sunlight gets so strong the star is not visible anymore. Similarly, the duration of human life, the time period of human life is the just the same as the morning star. That's it! Shines and fades away the same moment. Nowadays during the lockdown period, during this COVID period, I got so many news that this person is no more, that person is no more, not that they all were suffering from COVID. They passed away due to other reasons like silent heart attack, BP, high BP and sometimes due to no reason. Now, what can we say to those who have left us. The one who left did not say anything to us, so now what can we say. Why did you leave like this? But this is the truth that no matter how many times we close our eyes or how much we try to forget, the nature always keeps showing us her game but the man is so unconscious that even after seeing this dance of death does not think, does not go under the tutelage of the master, does not listen to spiritual knowledge, does not contemplate on this knowledge. The same stupidity is going on that I will do this after 5 years, that after 10 years, this after 50 years Moreover, who are already 50 or 60 years of age they think that when my child will be 20 years old, I will do this. Then he doesn't think about himself, his attention is diverted towards his children. When my child will be of 25 years of age, I will get him/her married when my child will these many years old, I will do this that. If he has two or three kids, he makes their future planning as his own future planning. I am not saying that you should not think and plan for your children, you definitely can, you should think, I am not saying that you should not think about yourself you should think that too But think by keeping this truth in your mind that my life, meaning not just my life, your life, your family's life your relative's life, your other families, the people of your caste, people of your kul/gotra (lineage) & country, everyone who is living on this planet, even the animals, the truth is that death is standing right above your head. There is line in Gurbani. 'maute da kanda eyon dikhe, Jyon daryawe dhah' The shore of the river where the sand is, as we watch, as the flow of water increases, the shore is cut off very fast but even if the water flow is less, still the shore gets eroded gradually. If you ever happen to visit Shri Vrindavan and been there where Yamuna ji (river) is Yamuna flows so far from Vrindavan, it is flowing beyond Vrindavan. Places where so many beautiful Ghats (set of stairs leading to a river) used to exist, and the place for the purpose of Darshan- it is like a Chubara, very beautiful dome, people also call it 'Baradari', a place to sit where sages and saints, devotees and the audience sit near the banks of Yamuna ji along with the Darshan (view) of Yamuna ji chanting Lord Shri Krishna and Hari nam chants. Now, the Yamuna has gone quite far. The sitting area and the steps made to go down and enter the river those steps have dried now, there is now a lane in front of it. There is traffic on those roads, houses are built near the roads, there are agricultural fields outside the houses and if you look at the farms, after walking for some distance you will see the presence of Yamuna's flowing water. This changed in these 1000 years but this is some other topic of Mathematics. But what is to be understood is that where Yamuna has left her Ghat then the river of human life which is for short period of time, that flow of water on those Ghats, Ghat in this context means the houses where you live, if any sage then, in that ashram where he lives or a temple where he lives. The flow of the river of life will leave and move from the house, temple or ashram somewhere sometime, We don't know! My disciple from Hyderabad Shankar, Shankarlal has come here. Yesterday he got some time to converse with me. He was saying that almost 12-13 years ago here in ashram Past life regression therapy a therapy to look back in your past life which is conducted by a disciple of mine who stays in England. His name is Vinay. So we called Vinay here in the ashram and old people whoever were interested. It is a part of hypnotherapy but still, it will be a good experience. So whoever wants to do, can enroll themselves. A lot of people enrolled. For some, the therapy was successful and for some, it was not. So Shankar was telling me yesterday that he was able to see through his past four births. He was able to see his previous four births. Where his daughter-in-law, his wife were still there, although in different relationships but they were together even then. Four births in just a flash, but it is visible just like a dream. When you see a dream, it seems to be true but after you wake up you realise- Oh! It was just a dream! Similarly, in regression therapy, the images which are visible, those images are clear and precise to the extent that when the person comes out of the therapy, he retains the memory of the same. He says I saw past four lives. He initially started telling me about his family problems. Disciples feel that their master should know everything therefore they express their concerns with me. So he also expressed. After some time, on his own, while discussing some other topic, since he is learning astrology, the 9th house is of past life in astrology, all this was already heard and known, so he said on his own that I saw my past four lives in therapy. I said ok, now tell me one thing. In those past four lives, the four houses where you lived, the property you had, the kids you had, where are they now? Do you still think about them today? He said- 'Obviously not. I don't remember them. Why will I miss them?' Are food supplies there in those houses? The electricity bill of those houses are paid or not? The people residing in those houses have done their insurance or not? The children living in those houses got married or not? What happened? Do you think all of this? He said 'no I don't think of all of this.' So I said the simple knowledge given to us by our great sages is that like family members of those past four lives are no longer with you and you don't think about them even for a second. So the family you have at present keep the same attitude and feeling for them as well. Do what you can do for them. Everything won't happen according to your wish. The people who are living with you have their own desires, their own destiny. Everyone is suffering as per their own deeds, how long will you be worried for them? You have crossed 55 years of age. If said technically, according to the ancient system of ashram the day your first child gets married, our sages had made this system that from that day onwards the person should live in the house as if this house is not mine anymore. Van prastha- to proceed towards the forest meaning one should completely put themselves in disciplined and dedicated spiritual practice. This time is not to hold on to the relations of this world anymore, it is time to untie the entanglement of the mind. But this doesn't really happen. The first child gets married, the second one gets married, the third one too but the mind wants to run and plan their lives too. He thinks that my daughter and son-in-law should act this way my son and daughter-in-law should act that way, now when they will have their children, intruding in their life too. Sorry to say but old aged people are not liked in the house, because they interfere a lot. The quarrel between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is mostly because the mother nags a lot, she interrupts a lot. Similar thing, the son will tell the father or keep it to himself that the father asks a lot of questions, am I stupid or what! Have you given birth to a donkey? Or if I am a donkey then the donkey's father is... if I am a fool then fool's father is.... possibly a fool only. If they think they are wise then why can't they think that we are wise too? So these dispute between son and daughter-in-law and daughter and son-in-law go on. People don't understand at what point they should get back now. Retract. I am not saying that get blind in their love and affection, give them everything you possess and go to the ashram. I am not calling you here in ashram at all. I am not interested in this but my point is keeping yourself financially secure, you should give enough freedom to your children. Whatever their destiny is, whatever their wisdom is they will work accordingly. You work was to give them good upbringing. If you haven't taught them good samskaras during childhood then now suddenly if you ask them to change, it is difficult. How your son-in-law and your daughter-in-law will be, people who are learning astrology they know that this is also linked to your past deeds. If your past deeds are good then you will get someone good, or else someone will come to settle the account of your past deeds. That is why it is said if you hurt others that pain will come back to you in manifolds. So don't be too lazy and don't be too foolish while doing your actions. Whatever deeds you do, its repercussions are not in the hands of God but in the hands and control of the karmic energy itself. I have a disciple whose daughter-in-law is 'Devi Chandika (aggressive) '. She is a Goddess but she is a chandika too. She was going through such hard times, so one day she left her home. She left her home and then she was saying that I am very thankful to God that he gave me a daughter-in-law like her. Because if a daughter-in-law like her was not there so just like my other relatives and friends are stuck in their households, I would have been stuck there too. What will be cooked today? Who is going to come today? What is to be given? What is to be done? Since the time I have left the house we stay in the ashram for a long time. As per the schedule of ashram, getting up early at 4 am for Aarti then doing asanas, pranayama, sewa (service), Open sky, beautiful open garden to live in. As you all know that at this time in ashram, an Ayurvedic clinic is functional, Acupuncture clinic is going on, a Physiotherapist permanently stay is ashram, they render their services. Ashram has it own dental clinic. So tell me, whatever a 60 and above old man or old woman needs is all here. And the small disputes which arise daily- you did this, you did that, they said this, they said that I am saved from all that too. So I am extremely grateful to God that he gave me such a model that because of her blessings, I am making the best of my old age through the path of Dharma. There is no sorrow, no grievance against her. She may live happily in her family life. She may take the house and the wealth if that makes her happy. We don't derive happiness from it anymore. 'Sukh naahi rey har bhagat bina'- we don't find happiness without devotion to God. Now, there is another side to the story too. The other side is that the other person's daughter-in-law is very nice. She serves them more than their own daughter. When they met me they said- We are blessed we got a daughter-in-law like her, we don't have to think anything. She has handled everything well. We are carefree and just do our chanting. She is so nice, she takes care of everything, she loves us, serves us. Even my own daughter would not have done it. The moral of the story is whether the members of the family are good or bad, doesn't matter, If your mind is good, mind is into spirituality, mind is knowledgable, then in every circumstance, life will be good. So one should not go through the trouble of thinking that the son and daughter-in-law are not good or your son and daughter-in-law are so good that your mind is totally in them. If they are good, then very nice. If they are not good then also very nice. You just have to make sure that whether your state of mind is alright? Whether your state of mind is good? Whether your mind is without any attachment and aversion tries to regulate your prana? Eating good, righteous, digestible diet getting good sleep, start your morning with praying and chanting god's name, give an auspicious start to your day and read and self study during the day. If you get time in the evening then you can keep doing Mansik Japa like Kabir ji gives beautiful examples- ''Jyon paniharan rahe smaran sir par dhare us ghaat ka" The earthen pot which is kept on the head one that fills & carries the pitcher of water, remembers in her mind, that the earthen pot is on her head 'Ek hath baal liye, duje te sakhi sambhal liye' With one hand she is holding her child, with her other hand, she is holding her friend and heading home while talking to her but the pot doesn't break down from her head, it doesn't fall down. The paniharan (woman carrying water) remembers the pot, she maintains balance, although she is walking & talking In Rajasthan, I once saw a woman, she had three pots on her head She was holding one pot near her waist, she had four pots in total and with the other hand she was holding her child and taking him along. She is walking with 4 pots, earthen pots on her body, Three on her head and one on her waist. One pot also doesn't fall. Similarly, whatever work you do, cooking, managing the house, running a factory or a shop, driving, or whatever maybe your work is, do your work But in the depth of your mind, whose remembrance should be there? You should remember the Supreme Lord.
