We have dwaitvaadis, adavitvaadis. Now if the one who is Dwaitvadi he says that we can only worship the Lord. When the Lord is appeased, then he will bestow liberation. Thus says path of bhakti. But gyana says, whether you do bhakti or not, it's another thing. But, the liberation due to some deity's appeasement, That... can also be taken away on His displeasure. So, this kind of liberation-we just don't want it. This is not liberation. It is an illusion. The Lord with his kindness liberates... Now, the Lord's mood gets upset, he may say, "Go back into shackles!" "I liberated you," "Tie... I can also tie you up." So, this cycle of tying and liberating is not at all acceptable in Vedanta. Not all all! Now, this letter I am taking which very aptly matches with this subject. It is asked, "In your book, Atma Bodh;" "what sookshma sharir (subtle body) is." "You have said." Listen very carefully. I'll speak slowly. "In our body, there are 5" "action senses, 5 perceptive senses," "mind, intellect, subconscious, 'I' ness-" "become 14. Five pranas." "-All these" "become 19 & these 19 elements together," "comprise the sookshma sharir." This, he read in my book. And this is the opinion of Vedanta. Right?! But, he, then read Satyartha Prakash. So, in that they have said that Maharishi says that 5 pranas, 5 perceptve senses, 5 subtle bhootas (elements), mind, intellect- the collection of these 17 elements is called sookshma sharir. Okay? 5 perceptive senses, 5 prana, and 5 subtle bhootas... He read another book. In that they've written that 5 pranas, 5 subtle bhootas, means tanmatras, perceptive senses, mind, intellect, subconscious, "I"ness-5+ 5+5+3 =18 elements are there. And at another place, it was also written that the self keeps 24 tools with itself. Twenty-four. Which are these 24? -Five subtle tanmatras means -shabd, sparsh, roop, ras, gandh. 5 mahabhootas, 5 senses of action, 5 perceptive senses, 5 pranas, 5 sub pranas. So, 6 * 5=30. Mind, intellect, subconscious, "I"-ness, so 34. They say that the subtle body is made of 34 elements. So, one wonders... -You said... In my book, it is 19. Satyartha Prakash makes them more... And in that, as they have also added the tanmatras, so, they become 18. In another scripture, 24. And in another book he read... So there, they came out to be 34. So, what is this matter? The matter is that, which philosophy has inspired that book? According to that philosophy, they'll say a fact. Okay, what's the difference from one another about? At one place, mind, intellect, subconscious, "I"ness, are said to be 4. And in another, only mind & intellect are taken, they say "I"ness and subconscious are included in mind and intellect. So, in place of 4, they say 2. Right? Okay, at one place, they said, "No, add the 5" "bhootas as well!" -Earth, water, fire, air, space. Though the point of reflection is that:- Are we talking about the subtle body or about the gross elements? Hmmm!? So how can five elements get added into that? Are the five elements gross or subtle? Are the five elements gross or subtle? And what do we want to understand? -Subtle body. So, to understand subtle body, should we consider subtle components or the gross ones? See the logic behind that, no? Rest, you can consider mind, intellect, subconscious, "I"ness - 4, or keep only mind-intellect... There's not much difference. Secondly, when you've said... Now, the sub-types of those 5 pranas are further... the 5 subpranas, means koorma, krikala, devdutta, dhananjaya. -Add all these. So, it's like this. Now, that 5 perceptive senses that we have, and our eye sees 7 types of colors... -Add that also. So, the teaching of the Vedanta... With its teaching... The followers of sankhya, yoga, at some places; they have differences. And they will be there. Someone considers as 2 elements. Another is considering 3 elements. That's why, in their philosophy, and in their teachings & in their books, -Everywhere, difference will be there. So, first you have to make up your mind... Hmm... Revered one! in which way do you want to move? Which... which path do you want to take? So, if you have to move with me, then forget all the others. You've erased them out, no? That's it. Its fine now! [Guruji laughs] Having a knowledge of different philosophies is a good thing, but it should be taken when you first have a firm experience of your own knowledge. Otherwise, what happens is confusion. Otherwise, a lot of confusion! Like only Shri Krishna will redeem. Only Shri Krishna will liberate. That's why serve Shri Krishna. That's why, worship Shri Krishna, chant Krishna's mantra. When Krishna gets pleased, then he will reveal himself to you. Now, where has the entire focus gone? -To please Krishna. -To chant Krishna's name. So, all these devotional path followers... all the Vaishnavas, they have just one practice. What? Chant the mantra and serve Shri Krishna. Only this remains, no? The whole practice is this, whether you do anything else or not... That's why, do kirtan of the mahamantra, keep dancing & singing, see the Lord with devotion. Serve the Lord... Serve him bhoga, make him clothes, offer flowers, partake the prasad. (If) The lord gets pleased, then you will also get the Lord's sight, -We'll go to his abode. The thing is different. What am I talking about? -Naino lakh le ni, saayeen tainde huzoor. Daahine, bayen, upar, neeche, sakal raha bharpoor. -Now, we cannot limit him to a single place. We are not saying that he stays in a specific place, & we, with our devotion, go to his abode. Now, you will get entry into his abode only if he permits you. In the path of devotion, this is it. You have to ask for his permission. What does Vedanta say? -Naino lakh lai ni, saayeen tainde huzoor. -If you have eyes, then see that Lord is omnipresent, not far away. Explore yourself. Know yourself. Know within. That's why Sahjo Bai says... Going on pilgrimages, fasting, japa, yoga, pilgrimage- The purpose behind doing all this- without knowing it, if he starts doing only this, then he will get stuck in that. For example, as summers arrive, then the travels begin. So, someone goes to Amarnath, another is going to Kedara. Someone goes to one place, the other to another place. Well, if you want to travel, surely go, no one stops. But, if you want to get in tune with Shiv Ji, then there's no need to go out. You need to go within yourself. Now, as he cannot delve within, that's why; goes outside! How to go within?- It is not understood. So, what shall he do now? So, he travels outside. So, outside... -Offering bel patri, water, on the Shiv pindi is easy. So, they say we do the easy thing. Now, focusing within with dharna, dhyan samadhi-Who would do this? It's a hard task. The mind is rajoguni. The mind is nimble. There's a desire to roam around. He can't stay stable in one place. -"Well, well, where to go? Let's go" "there... there... there... I want" "to travel." Especially, in Yoga, like in Vedanta... In yoga, there's a sutra, which says that the one who roams about from place to another, that person can never get an accomplishment in yoga. Now, you have to do asana, pranayama, shatkarmas. Hmm? So, you need warm water, ghee, khichdi, milk, and you need to keep safe from changes in temperature. All these shatkarmas, kriyas- Nauli, dhoti... Hmm... To do these... Now, hanging your bag, you're wandering... Sometimes here, sometimes there. Sometimes there. There is a disciple of mine, he keeps roaming around. Few years he stayed here. Then he... "I feel good there only." I said, "Okay, then" "you stay in the mountains." At times, he will stay at Gangotri, sometimes Kedranath, sometimes in Badri, Sometimes he'll stay here. Sometimes, go to Nepal. Then, he'll go there. Then, he'll go there. And these days, he... Ehhh... Because he posts on Facebook, someone or other, then, tells me, nowadays he's there... Now, he 's wandering at 36 places. He's in sadhus attire.- Its good! It's not a bad thing. But, what will be attained with this? Now, the interesting thing is... As a bit of Vedanta he has heard from here, so, he has picked up all the Vedantic text. So, he says, "What's there to be done?!" "What will happen by practicing Yoga?" "I am the embodiment of bliss!" Recently, during the satsang in Badri... So, he came to meet. He's a good child! So, I... Rest... Now, what's there that they are listening. Everyone is relishing it so much, because he... in a way, lives in physically hard conditions... So, in the morning... Now, all our disciples who had come from the Ashram, they were all... doing yogasanas... I asked, "What's he doing?" I was told, "He was sleeping!" As now I am the embodiment of bliss, so why to do asanas! I am Brahman. Aham brahasmi. What's the need for asanas? So, grabbing words of Vedanta, does a whimsical practice, And keeps roaming around the world... He travels to pilgrim places-Nothing wrong as such... Greatly good! Highly robust body, very austere body. But, will it yield anything worthy? Will it destroy the attachment? Will it help to remove body-attachment? Repeating the words doesn't work! Yeah! This... Rest, it is also based on prarabdha (destiny). Someone's prarabdha is such that that he is bound to roam about. He cannot sit at a place. As he is tied to his karma. Due to his karma, he is bound to that. That's why wherever his destiny takes him, he has to go to that place. He has to go... As you are tied to your prarabdha... The fruits of earlier actions... In the present... From those consequences, no one can be free. No one can be free. Yes! The forthcoming karmas- -You don't do any. -It is possible. You burn down the earlier collection of karmas in samadhi. -It is possible. But the karmas that are like arrows that have been shot, they will surely bear the fruits. This is what we call prarabdha. So, this is your prarabdha that you're here. If it hadn't been in prarabdha, then you wouldn't be here, but somewhere else. The entire game is of prarabdha. However, when it comes to moksha or when it comes to attaining gyana, then that can't happen without the Vedanta sutras. It is the only way. -hRitey Gyanan mukti-he|| Naanya pantha vidyatah... Without true knowledge, it is said, moksha is not possible. And with any other path... You may do anything, that has its own consequences, such as when he does yoga, then the body remains healthy, in balance. As he does pranayama, energy will be there. Mind will be peaceful, it won't be wavering. It won't be rajoguni. It will be satvic. The meditation will be good. He will relish meditation. There will be bliss. It's a great thing. However- -Who am I and who is Parmatma? And are Parmatma and me two or one? Without leaving this separative illusion, self-realization can't occur. Self-realization is also in path of Sankhya. Self perception... Perception of self... It can happen with path of yoga also. But, are self and Brahm one or two (distinct), this will only get clear through Vedanta. In any other way... It's not possible. That's why, I consider sankhya, yoga... I also include them. I don't consider that this is not suitable or they are distinctive ways, means keep them away. Be quarantined, means they're not right. There are such Vedantis! The Vedantis of yore would... Umm.... mind... They said "What yoga have you started" "with?" But, which yoga they were condemning? In which only the body comes into the context or the siddhis come into the context. Right now, the Patanjali Yoga Sutras... uhhh... The two chapters which are left, in those, the third chapter is entirely about siddhis. It's also highly phenomenal. Now someone, lured by the siddhis... So... -May I learn to obscure myself. -May I learn to fly? -May I learn to read the mind. -May... I get the power in my word, whatever I may say to someone, may that happen. Now, chasing such siddhis... Though it is yoga, but, then it will drag you into other bogs. So, for moksha... -Vedanta. And Vedanta also in the right way, ceremoniously. Listening to it appropriately... And to get capable for it, doing righteous actions. It is very very important. That's why yoga is also right. Mantra is also right. And then, at times, I also say that pilgrimages are also right; don't keep traveling, but stay at a pilgrim place for sometime, keep the senses in control. It brings balance for night-day activities. You follow a schedule, which is not possible at home. So, at times, not permanently, just for some little time going and staying by a river, staying at a mountain, staying at the cave is good. Recharge your body. And you bring some discipline in your life. Do a deeper practice. It's very good. But, for moksha, only Vedanta is needed, nothing else is needed. But, to deserve Vedanta, everything else is needed. Everything else is needed. For now, let's keep it this much. Silence to the Word!
