remembrance of the Lord if we do not do this just listening to discourses will then be just entertainment for the ears there will be no benefit let me say it again in life, whatever is happening around you today that will not always be the same there will be highs and lows at times there will be togetherness at other times separation I can recollect, a disciple of mine in Jalandhar we had an association of about 10-12 years visiting the Ashram, listening to discourses, attending Shivir all good, he was very nice person then one day the news came that he's got the cancer of the food pipe don't know since when the cancer was there but got to know late it was too late it went up till the fourth stage he too knew that he would not survive if cancer gets detected at an early stage listen to this carefully at an early stage if cancer is detected today we have very good treatment we have very good medicines with those medicines and that treatment cancer can be eradicated so if a doctor says to someone that you have this cancer then one should not start crying or lose hope should not get worried there is treatment for it, there are many cancer survivors I personally know 3-4 of my disciples who had cancer, someone had breast someone had brain cancer the other had ovarian they were treated and they are absolutely fine & healthy they are now not a big deal but in his case what happened was that he got to know very late and cancer had spread widely when the news came everyone is dear to me did not feel good on hearing then I said, make me talk to him he was in the hospital, I spoke to him over phone he said this very calmly he said I am not scared of dying I have lived a good life the children are all settled all worldly chores that I had I have done them all that is why if I die, I am not scared but but I'm overtaken by one grief and that is that you repeatedly said do meditation do meditation but I paid no heed kept thinking I will begin next year next year, I will do it but that next year never came and now the doctors are saying I have only 3 months left the body's condition is such that I cannot even get up and drink water so in this state I cannot even think of doing any meditation so I am trying to console him as he was very upset due to this no worries now leave it and at this time just focus on this the body was not yours, it is not yours now your body is being separated from you now just pray that the work you could not do this time that you should be able to do in the next birth whenever that happens when the next birth is going to be, I cannot tell neither does he know this life, we do not give much importance, it is there, no worries you do not know this once this slips out of hand then when will we get it again cannot be said so he said to me that I have only one request and that is that where ever I am born again and whenever birth happens I should come to you very soon very soon I should come to you the work that I could not do in this birth dues to my own mistake I wish to pursue that work as soon as possible I said this feeling of yours is beautiful I too shall pray the same for you that so be it I can only pray what will nature what, when, and how- this is all a big mystery if I say the truth then when people bring their infants to me sometimes to name them or their infant son or daughter they bring to the Ashram to seek blessings then while looking at their face, a thought always comes to me that who knows which disciple it is who has come back again don't know which one again has come again sometimes when I see these children grow when they are 3 years 4 years 5 years then the mother father tell me that when we sit to listen to the discourse then he too gets up and sits when we sit with the prayer beads then he asks us where are my prayer beads (mala) sometime back, I gave a five year old a mala (string of praying beads) a small one- like the one in my hand because big one he cannot hold, his hands are tiny tiny tiny hands he has how will he hold the big rosary, so gave him a small one I asked, how do you sit and my God that boy sat so beautifully in Padmasana (lotus posture) made his back straight, closed his eyes, took a deep breath and produced the sound of OM and after doing it 3-4 times he opened his eyes and asked; 'did I do it right?' 'I did it right?' I was in Shimla there was discourse there so there a few, Under my Shakti Program, the girls whose education we fund, pay their fee 45 such girls were there who came to meet me amongst them was 6 year old girl that girl from the time she came, wide eyed, she just kept gazing at me neither here nor there her mother said, from the time from the time she has come to know of you, through a photograph her husband was no more which is why she was enrolled in our education program and her fee was being paid she said when I showed her and told her that Gurumaa sends the fee for you and that she sends you to school, she must have told that so in reply that girl said so she's the one who is mine the mother is telling her and she is saying- so she's the one who's mine so she'll only do it she said that she never cries for her father died, why did he die or where he went? does not even remember him, she keeps remembering you for me she brought Ganpati- brought a Ganpati made out of mud she gave it to me she said 'I have brought it for you' a six year old girl has this feeling that I have to give something, I have to do something, I have to meet so this is not a new journey for this being this is someone old practice gets disrupted in between the mind gets lost, it wanders again and again it falls into materialism and lust again and again falls into the trap of me and mine and it forgets that in this world, apart from the Lord no one is yours neither can they be, yet believes the world to be true and runs after it when I see these children then this promise given by Shri Krishna which he gave in the Bhagwad Gita Arjun had asked: 'Lord those whose practice is incomplete' 'and they die, what happens to them?' Shri Krishna said: 'such people' 'will be re born in a noble family' Shriman meaning learned, pious, they will be devotees of the Lord will be born to such mother and father and from childhood such a one will get to hear discourses and get Darshan of sages and blessings of saints he will begin to receive the practice that one has done in the previous birth he will then begin from there this is an assurance given by Shri Krishna this is not just an assurance; this in reality is the truth and I witness this truth fructifying which is why I cannot refrain from saying this that my dear don't be a enslaved to the world, don't be, don't do don't do no matter how much you may try to please the world, it still gets displeased Please the Lord be in obedience of your Lord because he never gets angry with us neither does he ever leave us neither does he forget us always just like a mother cuddles her child keeps the child close to her heart similarly in our heart, Lord is living there he is taking care of us he's running our lives then forgetting such a dear Lord running after the world like crazy.. How's that a wise thing? do your work Lord Sri Krishna says Mai Sarvani Karmani Sanyasyat Dhyatmah Chetah Sah Niraashi Nirmamoh Bhutva Yudhyasvah Vigat Jwarah Lord is saying that wisely using your intellect perform all your worldly tasks and responsibilities but dedicate all tasks to me 'Mai Sanyasya'- dedicate them to me Niraashi Nirmamoh live without expectations live without attachment then what will happen? 'Vigat Jwarah' then you will live without anger me, me, me, do not sing this song, mine mine, mine....... do not always sing this; Everything is His whatever task you perform, just dedicate it to the Lord whatever work you do, just dedicate it to the Lord build a house, okay on paper for the sake of official documents it is in your name but in your heart, do not have this feeling that this is mine it is not mine, it is His do your work, whatever the fruit of it may be that too is His now if you do this then whatever the battles of your life may be in all those battles you'll be successful one battle Arjun had to fight there is one battle in our lives too some unfavourable situations, some difficulties some problems, keep coming in such a situation wisely prudently, intelligently face it but inside this thing should be very clear that nothing is mine no one is mine only God is mine I belong to the Lord He never leaves me i can never be away from him He never forgets me cannot forget me there is someone! see, if you are in a problem say if some government official work comes along some says Oh go to that office we have someone our own how nice it is that someone our own is there if you have to visit a hospital and there if a doctor or an officer who happens to be an acquaintance then the family feels relieved that there is someone their own now all will be fine, someone our own is there, all will be well does it happen so or not? devotee, I call the one, who is all the time God is there! he lives assuredly with that feeling
