As a result, you suffer sleeplessness but people say... Earlier, there was poetry wherein people used to say, you are falling in Love but in contemporary world people say that you are about to have heart attack Or a stroke. Or moving towards ailments; life has become a hard plight. Now all the despondent beings are gazing at me as a starved man looks at Jalebi (Sweet Snack) (Laughter) Oh! Master, you are well aware of our troubles. So, they are looking at me for a hopeful solution. Master, you know us inside out, you know we have insomnia, you know our anxieties But the question arises, what should we do about it? Answer to the question is - Carve out a place for yourself in this chaotic world No need to run from your responsibilities, no need to break strings of relationships, abandon homes, leaving wife or mother You need to fetch some time for yourself. You can become a disciple only when you acknowledge that your trepidation can be treated only by a Master And when you contemplate on what I'm running after Would this chasing be beneficial for me or would just leave me bare handed? Sometimes people crib about their ancestors for not accumulating anything for them. Tomorrow, your offspring would be commenting same for you, that you have done nothing for them. It's a human tendency, to complain more and have greed even more. When you will begin reasoning on why you are born in this world? Why? What is your Goal? and are you doing anything or not to meet that goal? We are not permanent residents over here. World is temporal. So in this mortal world, fickle wealth, fickle respect, fickle family & relationships. Everything is transient, breakable, perishable. Take a halt in this helter-skelter and just breathe a little. Look at your surroundings, what has been accomplished? What has been achieved? You are sitting here; Say, you have twenty, forty or sixty millions in your bank account Fifty millions or a billion. but if your body is sick, sleepless nights and restless days; what is the achievement in this? What did you achieve? Got a package of twenty-five lakhs, fifty lakhs or one crore; Fine! very good. Got the money, But, would that be enough for the mind to be contented? Because mind is in habit of demanding more, more and more. So as long as there is greed, how will the mind get peace? I remember, I've shared earlier too, a funeral home in Amritsar had a painting on a wall that was actually based on an idea from Purana, fresco was made. A man running in the jungle topples down into a well Why did he run away? Because a Lion was chasing him. Lion came to eat him, he ran away and while running, he fell down into a well While tumbling down into a well, a branch of a tree came in his hand that he held tightly. Now, he is hanging on that branch and that branch had termites on it. The branch has termite on it. It's not strong branch. He's hanging from the tree. So, there's a lion outside... There is a well. Deep down, there is a well. Branch has termite, and a Cobra was also perching on that same branch Ready to bite! And in front of the same branch there is another branch on which there is a hive of bees. Looking at the beehive, that man is tempted to devour honey. Death is everywhere. There's a lion outside the well. Well is deep. The branch on which he is hanging, has termites. A cobra snake is perching on that branch. However, out of avidity he desires of eating honey. So, this is the story of the mind of every being. It's okay that neither you are hanging in any well nor a lion is after you. Situation is different. Situation is different. But this message of Purana is saying that, "Death is imminent and death is everywhere." And yet the mind is filled with lust and greed. I should enjoy more. I should enjoy more. And the strange thing is, sometimes you get sensory pleasures. It's not that you never get it. Despite getting them, certain other issues or problems arise. I know a family whose son was having love affair with a girl for a long time and then they got married going against their families. Since the day of their marriage, they had been quarreling with each other. Then, a girl child was born. The fight was still on. And one day, they had such an intense fight with each other that the girl hanged herself in anger. Husband is sleeping. Daughter is sleeping. When the husband wakes up, what does he see that the wife is hanging from the roof Six to eight months old baby girl is crying out of hunger. After listening to the cries of the child, the father woke up and doesn't find his wife on the bed. He sees that she is hanging from the roof. I mean so much of anger is buried inside. She was so angry that she didn't think even once about what was she doing while finishing her life in anger. On top of that, police alleged her husband that he had killed her. His court case continued for a long time. Boy was arrested along with his parents and all were put into jail. Relatives somehow helped them.... Now, how to prove that both husband and wife quarreled amongst each other and husband had not killed her. It's difficult. But somehow, they all were acquitted because it was a suicide, which was proved too. However, all those three or four years that they spent in the court with the lawyers and in the police station, You know very well, how police investigates, embarrasses and humiliates? Because, the situation is such wherein they assume that the victim would have been killed due to dowry issues. Since, it's happening too. It happens too. Now, what can the cops do? They are not omniscient who can know your mind. They also need time to investigate. Then, there are dishonest ones too who are waiting for such cases to make money out of it. So, you bribe them and they will close the case. Otherwise, you'd be accused and arrested. On one hand, the family member dies and on the other hand the police... I'm again saying, I'm not saying everybody is like that.... I am not saying all the policemen are corrupt. There are ethical ones too. But, some of the very honest cops who are my disciples as well as known to me, say that even if they wish to work honestly, at times their co-workers prevent them from doing so. Rather, such honest ones are transferred somewhere else thinking that they would be an obstacle in their malpractices. Bothers them. It's system. It's hard for a sincere and honest man to do the rightful practice. It's a trouble for him. Now such a situation where everything had started from a love affair. Oh! what kind of love is this of you worldly people? That your love doesn't completes until you kill each other. Is this love or oppression? Attachments in the name of love and these attachments only kill. Attachments results into anger. Abide by me or else I will do this..... Abide by me else I will do that...... When such an angry person comes in front for giving trouble to someone, then whether it is a boy or a girl, would turn life into a hell. Now what will the wealth do in this case? There's a point in this, that I am saying before fixing marriage, the bank balance or the physical appearances of the boy or girl shouldn't be considered In fact, their values, behavior or character should be considered. The foremost priority should be their character. Isn't a drug addict.... Shouldn't be engaged in debauchery. You didn't notice these qualities. Considering the boy's good job and wealth, marriage is fixed out of greed but later it was realized that he's grumpy and fiend. Ruining your life with thrashing and beating, isn't a wise choice. Please don't go for looks, go for character. Look at the character, but you people look at the bank balance. You see, how big the house is! Satan is living in that house and you married that devil, what good thing did you do in that? But since, man himself has greed for money which is why he looks for wealth only. Big house, big building, big car, Just fix the marriage. Character is highly important. More than education, I would say character. Despite being an IAS officer, one could be greedy or grumpy. Character! Let me say again, How is character formed? If some Mahatma or some Master is present in life; or if someone is studying scriptures in life, then only good character is formed, otherwise good character cannot be formed. All are thieves, so would we steal. All are grafter, we too would take bribe. All are dishonest, so would we be. All those who live with this logic, if one gets married to one such person then how life would be happy? Contemplate about it. What is 'Shreya' (best) and what is 'Preya' (pleasant)? Two words come; The Upanishad says, one kind of things are there that are 'Preya' (pleasant) Wealth, Youthfulness, Beauty, Money. Estate, Wealth, Power, Fame are 'Preya'; and are dear to everybody. Second kind of things are there that are 'Shreya' (best). Knowledge, Contemplation, Yoga, Remembrance, all these are the 'Shreya' (best). Now, whether you will choose the 'Shreya' or the 'Preya' things? 99.9% of the people choose 'Preya' things (sensual enjoyment). For goodness (Shreya), neither we have space in our hearts nor in our minds. So, one who doesn't choose 'Shreya' (goodness), isn't a disciple. Who is a disciple? That is what I am explaining. Who is a disciple? The one who chooses goodness. Wealth or Paramatma, what to choose? He says that he will choose God. Paramatma is consciousness and wealth is inert. Gold, Silver and Diamonds are inert but Paramatma is consciousness. So, I choose the Self, I choose Paramatma. I do not choose inert. If you have to make a choice, Inert or Conscious, Which one should I choose? So, the disciple is the one who chooses the Conscious. Wealth or God, what to choose? Yes! Wealth will surely provide comfort. Wealth will provide convenience and comfort But truly speaking, the more you get comforts, the more you become lethargic. When you become lazy, you fall sick. If you fall sick, you cannot tread on the path of Yoga. Air-conditioner seems so good. But if you stay in air-conditioned rooms whole day, all the pores of your body get clogged. Microbes and bacteria present in the dust enter your room through the A.C vents and finally reach your lungs. And these microbes and bacteria make your body sick. Weakens the immunity.
