Sri Krishna was such good friends with Arjuna That He helped His own sister elope with him "That go and get married" He helped them elope; Which brother does that? Just imagine how much he must have loved his friend Arjuna That his own sister...because Subhadra said, "I like him and I will only marry him" They thought that no one would agree so Krishna said, "Just take her and run away, no worries" But despite living with the same Sri Krishna, there is ignorance in Arjuna's mind There is attachment He doesn't want to wage a war He surrenders his weapons Sri Krishna calls him a coward He calls him impotent and an idiot But he says, "No, I am not able understand this" "How can I attack my own Guru and uncle?" When did the ignorance from Arjuna's mind go away? Yes, when did it go away? When he listened to the Gyana- the Divine Knowledge When he listened to Gyana, it went away And then he said, "Now I have understood birth and death, I have understood Paramatman" "I have also understood who you are and who I am" "Now I will do whatever you say as I have no fear and no attachment" Keep this in mind Wah wah! Until he attained the Gyana, then despite being in Krishna's presence all the time, he remained ignorant Meera Bai lived in devotion all her life I am giving an answer to this question right now Ankush had asked "Which spiritual path is better for me - Bhakti (Devotion) or Gyana (Highest Wisdom)?" So, I am saying this related to this topic Devotion gives stillness to your mind When you worship, the worldly desires of your mind go away Do you understand 'vasana'? Vasana is like that very strong tsunami impulse for experiencing worldly stuff Vasana means the strong element of greed, anger, ego, jealousy, etc., etc. It is not that you think you want to be greedy, the greed takes over That is because of vasana Not a thought, not that you had a thought to experience a sensory pleasure No...vasana means that which will push your mind And it will create a very strong urge in you to experience sexual pleasures Or to eat something good through the tongue Or for money or ego or pride Vasana The very deep rooted garbage of vasana that is filled inside you That doesn't go away without 'upasana' (devotion) Ahh...there are two things in this In path of devotion, we call it 'dvait-marg' - dvait means two Path of duality Vedanta is 'advait' Advait means... No duality Or beyond duality So, path of devotion comes into duality and Vedanta comes into advait (no duality) What is the path of devotion? That the Ishta you are worshiping, whether it's Krishna, Rama or Shiva You keep their remembrance in your mind You meditate on them, you chant their name You only have their thought, while sleeping and in waking state...only that goes on Then one day, at some point, with eyes closed or open you have darshan of your Ishta And what is liberation for a devotee? That he reaches his Lord's loka (abode) Lok means where someone lives So, if we go according to Purana Then there is a lok of Krishna and a lok of Rama There is Golok and there is Saket Lok They say Vishnu lives in Baikunth Everyone has their own lok So, a Vishnu devotee wants to go to Vishnu's loka not of Shiva Shiva devotee wants to go to Shiva's loka So, you must understand this thing that these are not some physical planets Like today there are very strong telescopes like Hubble And there is a very powerful telescope, the biggest telescope in South-East Asia for astronomical studies is in Uttarakhand It's on a mountain top From there, they can study and understand a lot of things like movements, astronomical studies So, no one will be able to make such a telescope with which he can say - "Oh! This is Vishnu loka" "And here is Shiva's loka" "And here is Rama Ji's loka" No! They are not physical planes What are these? We call these mental planes Like you see a world in your dreams at night, isn't it? Your mind has created that world Now, during the day you keep running around after money After relatives, someone is happy and someone unhappy, etc. And your dreams are like that too I will narrate a completely true story This body's father... Had an uncle He sold cloth And Ahh...they were very good people, very simple people They would pray, earn good and... He used to take off his turban and put it by his side while sleeping And when he would check in the morning, the turban was torn in two pieces He wondered - "Who is tearing up the turban? We must pay attention" This kept happening for many days So, the aunt thought, I will keep a watch and see who is doing this She didn't sleep She stayed awake....stayed awake... And what does she see? In his sleep, uncle is saying - "8 meters...8 meters...8 meters" And he kept measuring and counting He picked up his own turban - "1, 2, 3, 4..." and he tore it up Now in the dream, he was tearing up his own turban everyday But what was he thinking? That I don't know who is doing this? Now, he would measure and sell cloth all day They are called Bajaj, those who sell cloth - they are called Bajaji In rural language They just make a small cut with scissors and then just tear it with both hands So, he would tear his own turban everyday And when he tore it, aunt started beating his up while he was still asleep "You idiot! You are tearing up your own turban and then in the morning wonder who tore it up!" "And I am sitting here with a stick that I will beat up the person who comes but you are tearing it yourself" But in sleep, look at how the link between dream and body is made? In the dream, he is giving the cloth to the customer but he is tearing the real turban Right? Similarly, if there is a constant thought of Krishna, Rama, Shiva in the mind That these are their companions, sons and wife He stays in samadhi like this His hair is like this, there is a snake on his body, ashes on his body There is a tripund on his forehead All this went into that devotee's mind So, when his mind became fully concentrated Then who would he see? This is what he will see So, Shiv loka, Golok and Brahma loka will get created in his mind itself Now, I will take the second one where Sakaar (with form) is not involved Umm...like Sant Charandas Maharaj's disciple Sahajo Bai Sahajo Bai ji says that - "I will forsake Rama", 'taj doon' means to leave "I can forsake Ram but I can never forsake my Guru" "And I won't even gaze at Hari in front of Guru" "In front of Guru, I won't even gaze at Hari" Why? She has provided validations in favour of saying this Sahajo Bai is a very unique master of knowledge, wisdom and intellect Unfortunately in our Hindustan People still know her Guru Swami Sant Charandas But they don't know his disciple Sahajo Bai Although she used to travel in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh She would do satsang and spread knowledge She believes in Nirgun (formless) Now, a temple of formless Paramatman can't be made Can it be made? What will you make? Huh? The One who has no form or color Can you make his idol? Can you make picture? No In this Ashram, at the beginning, I wanted that no picture, no image should be put up here But when it was being constructed, 22 years ago So, the JE etc. of administration would come And would say, "Is this an ashram being constructed or a resort?" "There is no Gurudwara or temple here, what is this?" So, it became a headache The people who were working here They said, "It's very difficult to explain this to people" "You need to make something here otherwise people won't understand" Only after that, the thought of making this Guru Mandir came up Because people were not able to understand Or they would come everyday looking for a bribe that "We will shut you down, etc. or we will give you a notice" "What is this...?" So, it was a big problem So when that happened, I said, "OK, let's make a temple" and we made a temple Then we thought, "Who should be placed inside?" Then we thought that in the Guru tradition, it's Adi Dev Mahadev - the tradition of Gyana has started from Mahadev So, he must be placed here And my Guru in present, we will put up his picture - what else could we do? So, it is more like... And I have narrated this long story earlier so I won't say it again That the form of Mahadev you see inside the temple This This is about 3000 years old An idol that was unearthed by Archeological department of India It's picture was in a magazine When I saw it in a magazine, I felt that it was the correct form So, I want this Now, it's a choice What I found beautiful in my mind's imagination, I took that And He was placed here Just with an assumption, a woman became your wife Or is it written from birth that she is so and so's wife "This is my wife" - you have assumed this If you have a court marriage, then a paper is proof that this is husband and this is wife You have assumed This is my wife These are my parents - you have just assumed this Mother says, "This is your father" Whether he is or not, only the mother knows Or parents who were husband and wife had adopted the child, the child was not theirs Right? You assumed this is father and assumed this is mother Similarly, you assumed that this is Mahadev This is Mahadev Now whether he was like this or not - how would we know? But he was fitting my imagination, he was looking beautiful He was in a meditation pose I said, "This is very good" He is so calm, there is a smile, there is stillness Let's make Him sit in the temple Now, whose idol should one believing in the formless existence have? Nobody's That's why, those believing in formless existence have no temples And like all all Sants believing in the formless existence also had to do something How? They had to...like when Guru Nanak Sahib left his body After that, Sri Guru Angad Dev Maharaj took that seat And then third Guru Sahib came By the time fourth Guru came, there was collection of all Banis (teachings) which was coming together- At that time, it was called 'Pothi'. Then the fifth Guru collated the entire collection With due respect that these are the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev, of the first four Gurus And he placed them in Sri Harmandir Sahib with due respect Where should we bow down? Where should we start the journey? Where should we start devotion from? Then it was said that the Guru's teachings are precious Whether the body remains or not, teachings will be there So, take care of teachings, take care of the Gyana Now we worship Gyana but don't we need to keep something in front? OK, I sing a bhajan that - You are here and You are there Where should I bow down? You are everywhere Then where should I bow down? So, one point must be chosen Every point can be a precious point, every point can be Ishwara's point So, you can bow down So, to offer salutations To give respect to Bani A place was created Sri Harmandir Sahib came into the existence A process started from there on But what should one believing in the formless existence do? He can only respect Guru's teachings There were no good painters in the old times And maybe they didn't want their pictures made Today's time is completely different There is a camera in your phone itself There was nothing back then Which picture? Like, can anyone say which is Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj's real picture? Recently someone came and said, "This picture came from abroad and this is the real one" When I saw that, I was like....since childhood we have seen the picture created by Sardar Sobha Singh And that's who we think Guru is Whether he is or not But he seems to be so...it seems he is the real one But pay attention Guru Nanak didn't make a place in Ishwara's name Did he? How could He make one? It can't be made 'eh jag har ka roop hai har roop nadri aaya' - the entire world is a form of Parameshwara So, what should I make in addition? So, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj didn't create any place Many places were created in his memory later on - that's a different thing But he didn't create even one place So, Sahajo Bai worships the formless existence What could she create? She didn't create anyone's either Maybe because of this Now, you can see an idol of Rama and Krishna, and you understand The formless existence can't be understood easily by people, so it became even more difficult to remember Sahajo Bai There is no authentic picture of Sahajo Bai either She didn't happen that long ago My idol-maker is from Orissa, Fakir Chand I told him, "I want to get an idol of Sahajo Bai Ji made" He said, "What kind should we make?" I said, "Make a gentle face, eyes should be full of bliss and there should be a stillness on the face" "She must be wearing a saree" "Because she was from Rajasthan, saree should be like from that region" I gave full explanation in detail So, he made it and gave it to me and my mind felt immense joy I said, "Sahajo looks like this in my mind" So, she was the first one to be placed at the old main door of Ashram No one remembers Her, so at least we should keep Her in remembrance So, whenever someone would come in - they would first look at Sahajo Bai Then he would see the temple and then rest of the Ashram
