OM OM "Sehnaavavtu Sehnobhunakto, "Sehviriam Karvavahai Tejaswinaa dhitamastuu Maa Vidvishaa vahai " "Gururbrahma Gururvishnu Gururdevo Mahashvera Gurursakshaat Parabrahm Tasmayi Sri Gurveh Namah" Om Shantih Shantih Shantih ! Being alive no human is as such who can remain actionless. Our first breath which went in, think that from there our chain of action starts. And big thing is that the action which you are doing, there are results of those actions. As per your previous actions today your present is made and the action which you do today with this, the future is determined. So we can say that actions will certainly happen. They are happening. They can't be stopped by anyone at anytime. In Bhagwad Gita lord Shri Krishna says the principle of action is very difficult. To understand it is very difficult. It is very esoteric. Which action will do what, which action will give what fruit, to know this subject is a subject of great intelligence. After a very deep intelligence only this can be clarified else this can't be understood that the actions which we are doing What are the secrets of those actions, the forms of those actions, let's try to understand them a little. Karma means action. Karma doesn't means kriya. Kriya and karma are two different things. Kriya is involuntary and karma is voluntary. Involuntary means where we don't have to think from our brain and we don't do and it happens on its own that we call kriya. And which requires the active thinking of our brain to be done. We call it karma. So karma can't be involuntary. When a person says I didn't want to do but still happened by me, he is only spreading rumors, saying lie nothing more. This is not true. Whatever we do, now to do is our right. We are human, to do actions is our right. Lord says, " Karmanye vaadhi karaste " " Maa phaleshu kadahchanah " Now this half verse is favorite to all that is to do actions is my right. But " Maa phaleshu kadahchanah " That on any fruit of actions your attachment should not be there. Coming here everyone gets stuck. Because when we do something we want its return, we want its fruit. What will we get out of it ? this keeps running naturally within everyone. So whatever it may be, first of all he keeps thinking what will I get out of it? What will be my profit? If I don't have any profits then why shall I do? People even ask me that why should we do chanting. Ok if we do what will we gain out of it? One person was asking why should we get up early? You ask to wake up in Brahman muhurat (an hour before sunrise), why should we wake up? If we wake up what advantage will happen? I have one.. He is a very good Ragi (singer of gurbani kirtan)... he sings very well... now his body is not alive. And I don't have to take his name also because what he said.. that I want to bring to this reference. He used to say who wakes up at 4 in the morning, who wakes up at 3 in the morning, Wakes up at 4, wakes up at 5, wakes up at 6 so what are its result? He used to say that the one who wakes up at 3 in the morning, think that as if he has donated diamonds, that much results he will get. Wake up at 4 in the morning so donated gold, that much results. Says at 5, donated silver, that much results. Says at 6? Now had to wake up so here no virtues, no sins. Okay fine that you have woken up. He says who wakes up after 6, says he will only earn sins, virtues are very far for him. He won't earn anything. Means from 3 to 6 still there are some benefits. Says after that? Then you came under the count of animals. For whom waking up is also a difficult task, who finds difficulties in waking up, to such person we can call them lazy, wicked, materialistic, tamasik person. So this satsang (discourse) is not for tamasik persons. This satsang (discourse) is for them who wakes up at 3 o'clock. Do you wake up? Wakes up at 4 o'clock. Do you wake up? Wakes up at 5 o'clock at least. So for 6 o'clock no virtues no sins. So we will say 6 o'clock becomes the beginning category. Now the question is for doing action we have rights but my question is That do you have notion of this, how many types of actions are there? So understand that subject a little. One is which we call Nitya Karma. Nitya means which we need to do every day. Now in Nitya Karma comes waking up in the morning. Nitya means which we need to do every day. Now in Nitya Karma comes waking up in the morning. If I say according to scriptural method, I have already given you the indication of time of waking up in the morning. So to wake up in the morning, to bath, to eat, to sleep. And if we see in the spiritual perspective, bathing after waking up in the morning will become dharma. If you sit for mantra chanting after bath. So actually this is also a Nitya Karma. Today you are not ready to accept this. But I would like to add this also to Nitya Karma. Waking up in the morning, bathing, then chanting Gayatri mantra or Guru mantra this part of the action should be Nitya Karma. Second Naimaitik Karma. Naimaitik means which is done for certain objective. For example doing shraadh karma, For example Makar Sankranti has come so on that day donating gud (jaggery) and til (sesame seeds). Why are you donating? May I get punya (virtuous points) Why are you doing shraadh? May my ancestors remain satisfied. If Navratri comes then you resolution that for this much day now we won't intake food or for this much day, morning and evening we will visit temple. That action also you are doing for certain cause, doing for some reason. So the Nitya Karma that you do, if only I bath, clean, eat, drink then what will be it's results? Says what will be its results? You are human, doing at least this much is needed. must be done. Now we can't ask any animal to wake up every day and must take bath... to dog, buffalo, cow or bird. We can't say them. We can only say to human. So doing Nitya Karma is mandatory if you are human. And you will perform Naimaitik Karma, if you are religious. If you are not religious then what Sunday, what Monday, eat and drink everyday, alcohol, fish. Who eats the inedible also so what to discuss about them. This topic changes. I want to definitely remain on my topic. Then comes Sakam Karma. When you do an action with some desires. Doing some actions out of desires is said as Sakam Karma. Now I can say that most of the people come in this category that is they do Sakam Karma. Like I said, may be Shraadh, Navratri, Nitya Karma, may be waking up in the morning, may be bathing in Ganga, they search for virtues here also. I am going to bathe in Ganga, what punya (virtuous points) shall I get? I watered Tusli (sacred plant) what punya (virtuous points) shall I get? Fed Chapatti to a poor, what punya (virtuous points) shall I get for it? So who always in the perspective of profit do any of his activities, we call him Sakam Karmi. Sakam Karmi. The fourth will be Nishkam Karmi. Who is Nishkami, who does actions without any desires. This will become little difficult. It will become 'maa phaleshu kadaa chanah' type thing. Who doesn't have attachment with actions, who doesn't do any action for self interest, who does actions being completely selfless. All the actions done by him We are saying Nishkam karma because from one side he is doing the actions without the feeling of doership. There his doership is not implied. Being me, body is mine, I am this body senses are mine, I am senses so one who does actions without attaching me to the body and senses and mind he can only be Nishkam karmi. or else people take photographs in the name of social service in the newspapers. Nowadays newspaper is not needed. Facebook is there. So giving someone flour, dal so there also they click photos of them and of that poor man also. and from that photo he put that photo on his Facebook and the world comment on that how generous you are. Just think when the munificent Karan Maharaj was doing charity, was he doing it showing to anyone? Someone will see me and what will I gain out of it? What results shall I get for this? Just think when king Shivi had given his flesh to that hawk so had he given it for getting some comments on the social platform? So where by giving we have wanted praise or may be facebook comments in return, that will come under Sakam Karma. That never comes under Nishkam Karma. I am remembering once in Prayagraj at a temple I was doing satsang... so there, in those days, I always wear watch, but may be on those days watch was not working. So how long have to say, how to know? I asked the head of the temple about the time. He said don't worry there right infront of you watch is there. We keep inviting speakers so watch is very important. I said very good. When I went and sat on the stage, the watch was definitely there but from that watch I was not able to see the time. It is not that it had no hands, it had. It's also not that there were no cell, it was. But on it, so thinly it was written that "Shri Ghanshayam dass Agarwal's son ; Raghunath dass son kashiram has gifted this watch with regards in service of the temple on mother's death anniversary." and below its date was written. So I was not able to see the time on watch only it was visible that whose son, whose grandfather, whose father, why gave and on whose remembrance he gave. Now In general perspective we would say it became donation. Yes it became donation. But if we see in the perspective of Gita then it is not donation. It is just egotism. just egotism So when you do Sakam Karma then with that two things get attached. If you do good action then it will punya (virtuous act) so result will be happiness. You do something bad then it will be paap karma (sinful act) and the result of sinful act will be sorrow. Now you understand that you can't live without doing actions. That means ever since you are born in this birth and before this as many births have happened to you. In all those births you have been doing actions. Then figure out how many sinful acts might have happened. Now this is also a funny thing, man is so selfish that he always calls his own actions as virtuous actions it might not be also. If I will interpret the sinful actions then what will we call sin? Now the scripture talks about ... Vihita karma (prescribed actions) and nishidha karma (prohibited actions)... about two types of karma Vihita karma, (prescribed actions) scripture says do them. Nishidha karma (prohibited actions) scripture says never do them. So there is a long list of prescribed actions. because in today's time man does not read his scriptures. That is why what should be done this is also not known. And what should not be done, this is also not known. So purva vimamsa, which give us a very long description on this subject, what should be done and what should not be done regarding that also we certainly should have some knowledge.
