our sages by virtue of their tremendous insight and wisdom fathomed the very nature of mind the mind which cannot be seen with eyes which cannot be heard by the ears that which upon cutting the body open cannot be found in the body that mind which cannot be captured in any CT scan or X Ray it cannot be seen our sages have understood the depths of that mind your scientists if he wishes to do any work he needs his laboratory needs machinery without machines without a laboratory he cannot perform any experiment our sages have done complete research over mind without any machine without a laboratory without any equipment you consider your scientists to be very knowledgable, but if you take away their machines from them, then ask them, to tell you..... why go far, go to any qualified MBBS Doctor and hide his BP monitoring machine take it away and then ask him to tell your Blood Pressure he will not be able to tell without a cardiogram if you ask him to take your ECG graph, he will not be able to tell without the EEG machine the doctor will not be able to tell how is the brain functioning, without an X-ray machine he cannot tell how the bones are or if they are broken or fractured if they don't have their machinery they cannot work but a mahatma A rishi has without using any outward resources understood, that which mind gets trapped in, in the web of the mind they will not understand the mind and to understand the mind there is no machinery, it is not possible with the help of a machine you can understand an object or a thing but you will not be able to know that what is inside and that which is not even like a physical organ, how they would have understood that so the knowledge of the sages is way beyond the comprehension of you and your scientists How many of you know cooking, reading writing, driving, now cooking food driving a car writing, reading all this by and large everyone knows everyone here knows driving and if some women and men don't know it is another thing but if they wish to learn they can learn and then you too can drive a car now why would you be able to do this? because you know it because you received the required training cooking food some one taught you and you learnt someone taught you reading you learnt to read driving you saw someone or learnt from a teacher, so you know how to drive the question arises that if you did not meet these people who taught you then you would not have learnt to do all of those so then to learn anything what does one need? training and for training what is needed? teacher! if you don't have a trainer, you can't get a training. As simple as that. now those who have understood the mind them, we call as 'sant' see, with this new definition if there is any doubt in anyone's mind then get rid of it being a Saint does not mean that one needs to wear long garlands adorn the forehead with long Tilak wear a robe see a robe you all too have been asked to wear the reason is, so that you can be comfortable and reason of choosing one colour for everyone, is so that it becomes easy to select the cloth and no time is wasted and it brings uniformity it is Satvik (virtuous) and mind doesn't lose it's energy in just deciding what to wear, what colour right? and then because you have to sit in Sadhana meditation may be some Sadhana you may have to do standing and at such a time loose and open garments give comfort that is the reason robe was liked by mahatmas they felt it was perfect tight jeans, if you are wearing then one will not be able to cross legs and sit on the floor right? you will not be able to fold your legs and if over tight jeans one is wearing a belt, then will not be able to breathe properly some women in Europe and America to look thin wore one very tight thing, it is called a corset inner corset when that is worn their stomach that which was 45 inches that gets tightly squeezed to 40 now she is looking slim but not able to breathe it has also happened that in some parties the women fainted and the ambulance was called, and the doctor checked and could not figure out what had happened to her, and when they probed more they saw what she was wearing inside because of that her stomach was squeezed so much that there was no place to breathe so that is why very tight garments they did not like those who have to fight battles, ride horses then they need fitted clothes but to sit comfortably in meditation than at time loose garments work well they are more comfortable and airy but in the mind of people this the perception was formed that a Sant is one who wears a robe let me tell you something about myself, I once got to know of a highly accomplished Yogi , that he was visiting Rishikesh (a holy city) we went to meet him when we reached to meet, then in his Ashram garden, as we sat his disciples in saffron robes wearing a Dhoti Kurta he made me sit we were talking, having tea while we were talking one, a man of plus 60 years of age wearing a jogging suit and wearing sun glasses Aviator and that person walked past, okay! so, may be someone! how would I know? in that time, a man came running he called out 'Swamiji has come' I was like I didn't see, where did he come from? maybe there must be another place, he said, he just arrived, he is coming to meet you I said okay, and this who I had seen he was the Swamiji! now in a track suit and donning Aviator shades I had for the first time in my life seen a Swami like that, meaning good!! the disciple is wearing a robe was wearing a Dhoti Kurta and he was wearing a maroon coloured dark maroon track suit and his name was Swami Ram he is from the Himalayan Institute in Pennsylvania they have an Ashram and for the last 35 years nearly he has lived in America and Europe and he has done a lot of work there and his special ability was that on his will he could stop his heart beat, he could stop his pulse beat in many places he was declared dead by chain of six doctors eight doctors, ten doctors In Germany, in American Universities, at Harvard, and may other places he gave such a demonstration he of his own will could turn his body into a dead corpse and twenty minutes later again the Prana would transmit life now, I had read a lot about him so thought while he is here, I should meet him, those days I too was in Rishikesh , I am talking about the year 1992 now this gentleman, to me did not seem like a Mahatma because I had that particular image of Mahatma, meaning one who wears a robe and here he was in smart pants and Aviator, he came and, when he came to meet us he was still wearing the same, not that he ran in to change, because some Sadhu had come to meet, so I too should dress like a Sadhu, he came and just sat in a chair across we then kept talking for a long time he asked about me, I asked about him and we kept talking and it was an absolute untraditional, for me this was the first experience and I thought if this gentleman in this attire if he goes to some city or some village no one will know who he is you know, may be for this reason, when a Mahatma wants to hide his identity then he becomes like Swami Ram and Swami Ramteerath an ancient sage very capable and adorable a Vedanti, carefree recluse renunciate he, when he lived in Uttarkashi he gave up even on his Saffron robe he wore white a simple dhoti and Kurta he shed his Saffron robe, someone said this is not done being a Sanyasi how can you shed your saffron robe? so he said the goal for which I had donned the saffron robe, that goal I have achieved now to me it makes no difference what colour I wear and this title too is a disease with that thought I give up on the title of Swami too! Upadhi means title the title has become a disease, because when someone looks at me as a Swami, they fold hands, bow their head will try to offer something and now I am not in a mood to give a discourse to someone or impart knowledge or answer to questions, so I have removed the sign board of my shop this shop is now not running? very unusual ver unusual being a Saint does not mean that one has to dress in any special attire or wear any special type of tilak a Sant means, one who has decoded and understood the invisible mind, such a person is called a Sant and that Sant is the one who can provide you training about your mind because he knows the subject once, you know your mind, you can use it, and right now, you are being used by the mind when I know how to use a machine then I can use it, and if I do not know then it will be lying there...... in the beginning those who did not know what a refrigerator was, they would say we have cold cupboard in our house cold cupboard Once I in Uttarkashi a lady from Amritsar, she was called Devi ji there were three four of them great seekers in their Ashram I was living so there, there was one her name is Nirmal it was summer so she tells me should I get you some cold water to drink I said no, there is no such need, she insisted, we have a cold cupboard in our cold cupboard, water becomes as cold as ice! 'so let me make for you,' I just kept listening quietly, like I don't know anything what she was saying, I said okay, show me too, how is that cupboard so she eagerly took me to see it I just pretended ignorance and asked how do you open it, how do you use it, okay so it will remain cold! and she very nicely explained it to me so for the first time I got to know about the fridge from there If one doesn't know how to use it, you may have a machine, but you will not be able to use it, similarly you don't know anything about your mind, you cannot use your mind and what is happening is the mind knows you, so mind is using you mind is using you the mind has become your master and the mind has made you it's slave how is that? it is like, our mind, the way it is works like this, that to work it needs five agents five agents it needs like the big shots have people to work for them similarly the mind has many okay do one thing close your eyes not to meditate but to play a game close your eyes everyone close your eyes and tell in my hand what am I holding huh?? no?, now open your eyes what is in my hand you are very intelligent you may be MBBS, Md, PHD but with your closed eyes, if someone asks, can you answer? you will not be able answer so that which through the eyes sees is called the mind eyes do not see who sees? okay when the eye sight becomes weak, you go to an Optometrist to get glasses and he places a frame and puts in lens there and asks, see..., no cannot see yet, see...., no not yet, okay now see still it is blurred, now see oh it's still not clear, now see..... ah! this is right who is knowing this? that this is right, your eyes or your mind? the one who sees through the window of these eyes is called the mind okay now, listen carefully I am about to say something tell me!
