do at that time At the time of doing Tratak strain in the eyes is very natural there is nothing unnatural in it eyes shedding tears obviously can come because when we keep our eyelids open, the natural pressure of it's contact with the eyes the air around it's contact with the eyes constantly occurs which causes tears this is the body's natural mechanism due to which some small insect or dust particle or something else does not get into the eye so this a system of the nature to keep it hydrated with those tears if something has entered the eye is washed out now, our eye is Jad it cannot think the intellect thinks Tratak is done with the eyes you use your intellect yet the eyes have a mind of their own so those reflexes work, move, it is body's own mechanism to protect itself for which the tears form in the eyes but if there is pain in the eyes then we can say this could be due to some other fault because at times, sometimes, some small prior issues can get aggravated for those who practice Tratak my suggestion is that they should do Jal Neti by doing Jal Neti or Kunjal Kriya your eyes will stay healthy pure, cold, and will be rid of Pitta if in the eyes or the area of your forehead there is inflammation of sinus or there is any cough that is collected that too can cause head ache so if there is no medical reason there if no phlegm even then you are experiencing pain that pain may be probably because you are keeping your eyes open longer than your capacity so in between you can close your eye lids and blink then you should not keep it open for the entire duration because may be due to that your eyes are paining you should observe your body closely, why is it paining the science of the functioning of the body develop an understanding of that but if in your routine you do Kunjal once in 15 days and you do Jal Neti and every second or third day for now as there is Covid if you do it every day that will be good there is one precaution to take that the trickle of water when it get's over then make sure to bend your head and hold that position for sometime following it up with Kapal bhati Pranayama and on the back of the hand keep exhaling and then if there you feel no moisture, it's totally dry, if it completely dry on the back of your hand then that means your, the moisture increase that occurs with passing water through the nasal passage that has been fixed if at all some water remains, moisture remains, then that may cause some infection can give you a headache so every yogic Hatha Kriya when practiced some caution must be taken those precautions if not take care of you may end up hurting yourself and you will blame the Kriya that is why I fell sick where as that happens due to you foolishness so if you do Jal Neti so after that make sure for minimum of 15 minutes you have to do Kapal Bhanti and during that two or three times you sit in Baal Asana with head down then again repeat, when you do this Kriya two or three times then your nasal passage will become dry your sinuses stay clear and when there is no moisture inside then there is no reason that you will have some problem the endurance ability of Tratak to keep eye lids open and focusing on one object for long by continuous gazing at it in that it takes time if you think in one time alone you can do it for 15 minutes that will be difficult, so in the beginning for 20 second or 30 seconds you keep your eyes open, then close then again open, do this again the fan should not be on open, do this again when you repeat like this closing the fan should not be on opening closing opening, keep the fan should not be on doing this then a time will come when the fan should not be on your eyes will be able to take the the fan should not be on strain, secondly the fan should not be on whenever you practice the fan should not be on it is summer season so without the fan can be difficult so, either, meaning that your room should be cool or must be air-conditioned, which so that the direct breeze does not come or may be from before you keep the room cold then in that, you should not keep any thing that makes air move any gadget like that should not be used, no fan no AC if that is possible if you concentrate on the flame doing Tratak or a statue or you are doing on a photo then it should not hurt that much but if you are doing it on the flame and the fan is moving, the flame will keep moving, how will you do tratak so that you will have to watch aware-fully you see that then how ever whatever is comfortable, meaning the eyes capacity we strengthen them, we enhance their elasticity in the same way when you chant Mantra then with the Mantra we give our mind the training to concentrate your mind will be more focused your mind will be more quiet your mind will then be able to concentrate on any one object, it's tendency of running here and there this will slowly slowly begin to vanish so a child of any age can sit along with mother or father on some days you can even join them in reciting the Mantra the second method could be, which is very easy this is very popular in Japan and that is to make the child keep his right hand on the naval and then ask him to breathe slowly slowly filling the stomach like a balloon and notice the expansion with your hand and when you breathe out so then by blowing out what will happen is your stomach will go in so the stomach expands and contracts, on breathing in the stomach expands and on breathing out stomach contracts, so the movement of the stomach notice this making an attempt to understand this technique you can teach that to your small child and this is my experience the children can do it beautifully the state of the elderly is very bad, they have trouble understanding even small things I say in that too, they will breathe in and the stomach too will go in and on breathing out they will be expanding their stomach sometimes I think understanding show grow with age but they just become more stupid why is it so? because their mind is so erratic their mind is so deranged that even upon sitting in front and listening, they do not understand and by watching it on family, that for an hour they should not disturb you be totally alert while doing tratak if you listen then I can hope that maybe then you will understand what I am saying so focus on the sound and make the sound do both the things together saying it aloud and using your ears to hear your own voice and the third thing will happen be to feel the vibrations in your body, if these three things you are able to do together then most certainly be it a small child or a young one, or elderly all will feel very good it will be a very very satisfying experience
