If right now, I am separate from my body and the three states; waking, dreaming and deep sleep And I don't change with the changes in them Then what will change with the death? Thats why it is said, Gyani- the 'Knower Of The Self', doesn't die The Gyani never dies. Is it true or false, tell me? And you too will never die...is it true or false? And your stupidity comes in between...'Gosh! How can it be?' We feel hungry, we feel cold, we feel fearful Then how can we not die? Now whom are we talking about when we say, 'We'? And whom am I talking about? 'You'! This is similar situation to, 'Mistake made by Ramu but Shaamu is being slapped' Will this be a fair judgement? No, this isn't fair! You are not the body then how can the body's death be your death? How is the body's birth, yours? It is not This is the glory This is the miracle of Vedanta As soon as you hear it, 'I am liberated', it gives you this conviction And if you unable to attain this conviction and understand it, doesn't matter I am are here to make you understand and I will do it So understand it Remember that story about the parrot, in which Guruji's message was received as... 'Drop down!' Now there was a possibility of the parrot being stupid and assuming that he was told to lie down and do the parroting But the parrot was sensible so he understood that I have to fall as if I'm dead, or sick, or about to die The parrot was so wise! My dear...at least become a parrot If you don't understand as a human, might as well become a parrot Parrots understand He fell down in his cage, was taken out, and he flew away Grief is because of ignorance Bliss is the result of the ultimate wisdom So whenever you feel sad, understand that, most definitely you must have identified yourself with your body and mind If you had not done that, you wouldn't have been sad The identification with the body and mind alone brings you misery If you see your own pure true self, there is no misery then There was a Swami called Shankaranandji, who lived in Kankal I am talking about a time frame of 1950 or 40 This body wasn't there then, but my revered Swami Akhandanand Saraswatiji used to go often to meet Swami Shankaranandji He used to meet him and sit with him That Mahatma was supremely disinclined from the objective world If you would go and ask him, 'Swamiji, how are you?" "How are you! What are you asking me? I am always in bliss!" No Swamiji, I am asking about your body "What is the need to ask about it?" "Its only soil" Then the person in front, will sit with a finger pressed on lips Someone asked, "Swamiji, can I click a picture of yours?" "Beware!" "You want to make the body sacred?" "This is mere soil" "Whats the point in clicking a picture of the soil?" And I am aware of so many Swamis who wouldn't allow anybody to take their photo Because they said, "When you will keep my photo, you will remember this body and here I am teaching you, I am not the body" "And you want to keep my body picture with you" "What a stupid you are!" "Why to take picture of the body?" "No photo" Swami Shankaranandji's photo, nobody dared to take He used to speak such staunch Vedanta in a very daring manner People used to get very sad and also upset Vedanta is not something to hear, but to live This is the experience of a knower and this is the only truth And if you unable to understand it and its not getting absorbed in your being, then it means, there still are afflictions in your mind, and its not getting absorbed in your being, then it means, there still are afflictions in your mind, along with impurities and disturbances Correct them I will tell you a story A man went to a shop of 'Truth' Shop of the 'Truth' There he asks the shopkeeper for 'Truth', please give me! The shopkeeper said, "I can give you the Truth" but it comes with a price All your opinions, insecurities ignorance and incorrect knowledge, give them to me, and take the 'Truth' To explain...if you are a seeker of truth, what you have to give away is your insecurities, confusions what you have to give away is distractions, obsessions possessiveness and stupidity, just need to give away that, 'Truth' will be given to you Once a man went to Swami ji and says, "Swami ji, my Pandit ji (priest) has told, astrologically, my dasha of Saturn is approaching and is going to be disastrous- it is coming in my ascendent" "Even the Ketu is inflicted- this and that so I will die this year" He showed Swami ji, his horoscope Swamiji took his horoscope, tore it and threw away, saying, "Nothing will happen to you, this is all rubbish, so let it go" Do remember, Swamiji himself is a renowned scholar and also an astrologer But still he tore and threw it "Nothing will happen to you!" A year passed, nothing happened. Another year passed, nothing happened One day the same man was sitting and another man came and he said to Swamiji, "My bad phase is about to start, this is what my panditji told me" Swamiji said, "Okay, show me your horoscope" "Hmm yes. You should chant 'Maha Mrityunjay Mantra" The first man thought, 'he tore away my horoscope and telling this man to chant 'Maha Mrityunjay Mantra'' 'Although I haven't died as yet' But he is in doubt, as his horoscope was torn and thrown away and to this man, he is doing analysis and suggesting him to do 'Maha Mrityunjay' chanting What has happened? So he asked Swamiji said, "Look, the state of your mind wasn't bad" "You had devotion, and also love for me" "Your mind was doubtful, I tore and threw it, you got absolutely convinced that whatever he is saying, is true" "Your mind was pure. Your mind had devotion" "Thats why I knew, by saying and doing this, you will become fearless. And that's what happened" "This man who came, hasn't heard me much and is not a devotee" "Doesn't have much knowledge, and also doesn't have devotion for me" "Thats why I told him for mantra chanting" "Sit down and do Mantra, son" "And now when he does it, what will happen? His mind will become strong" "When his mind will become strong, then he will visit me more often" "And if he visits me more often, he will keep listening to the spiritual discourses" "Then in discourses he will be listening to Vedanta" "When he would have heard Vedanta, he would come to know that death doesn't happen, fear doesn not exist" Thats why Guru is a Guru He knows where, what, when is to be said Where, what and when is not to be said Yesterday someone had come, who is a renunciate from the lineage of Swami Sivanandji He was saying... "The Swamiji who was our past president, someone told him that the temple construction work you have been wanting to start, the Omen and the day to start the work, is not auspicious so don't get it done on this day" So he replied "Ok ok, yes you are saying right" "But the very next day he started the work as well" He said, "Swamiji it wasn't an auspicious day" He replied, "We will start with the remembrance of the Lord's name, then which day will not be good? Don'y worry" And if someone says, 'this day is not good'; Oh yes! it is not a good day This work shouldn't be done, don't do this work Ok, we should not do this work And he is saying it with all seriousness But next day he will be doing the job. Why? There is no fear There is no fear at all And the sage knows, what will happen Nothing will happen Lets take the next Shloka(verse) 'Ek Aevahi Bhutatma Bhoote Bhoote Vyavaistitaha, Ekda Bahuda Chaiva Drishyate Jal Chandravat' The self in all beings is One alone, residing in each and every being Even though it is One and alone, but still looks as too many This is why? because, as the moon gets reflected in many many many ponds, it seems there are many Moons Doubt seeps in If everything is One, then why do we look separate? You are saying there is only one entity of 'Brahman', then why do we all look separate? It was explained as this... One Moon's its called 'Pratibimbvaad'(philosophy of reflection) In 'Darshan Shastra'(philosophy), it is called 'Pratibimbvaad' 'The philosophy of reflection' There is only one Moon in the sky, but it's being reflected in the pond, river, pitcher, glass... Any vessel carrying water, which could be of any shape; we will see the reflection of the whole Moon in it, or will it get cut? This is a thing to be observed But the problem is that the whole time you occupy yourself with Facebook or Television or gossiping with people, so when did you see the world? Although you claim that you immensely love this world, but haven't even seen it ever So now whenever next it is the full Moon night, just step outside This is not possible in cities, but go to some village There is lots to see there, so roam around In a river it (the moon) will be broken, as the water is flowing, so the Moon won't be seen wholly In a pond it will be seen totally Even in a tumbler or a glass filled with water, you will see it completely Isn't it a strange illusion? It doesn't reflect half The Moon doesn't say that 'I can't fit in a glass' The Moon is whole in a pitcher filled with water It's whole even in a pond In so many of the pitchers, in so many water bodies or reservoirs Moon reflects as a whole at different places but still the Moon is only one Similarly, the Brahman is only One although the 'Antakaran' (Mann-Buddhi-Chitta-Ahankaar) are separate of everyone Shall I make it easy? The Mind of everybody is different So in this mind akin to water, the reflection which is made, is being called 'Me' by you So this 'Me', 'Me', 'Me' has become separate, Yet it's all One The difference is because of the mind If you remove the mind, then what is the difference? Okay, if 10-50 people are sitting in a hall All have different names The qualification is different as well, right? Everyone's age too is different Their choices, habits... You know the 10-20 people, they are all different Socially, economically, education...this...that, they are all different But once they go into sleep, they are snoring- all equal If all 10...20...50 people sleep together The sleep makes you One If a sage goes into deep sleep, then his mind and intellect too, will merge-in with Avidya 'Avidya' means unconsciousness It is semi-unconsciousness. It is deep sleep There is no mind, hence there is no identity crisis, that 'I am different from you and you are different from me' 10...20...50 people sleeping in a hall...they are all One But if someone calls one name, "Hey... Surjit!", then who will get up? Okay, lets say Surjot is in a very deep slumber then he wouldn't be able to hear in such a deep sleep Then the one whose sleep is not deep, will get up. Then he will get angry and kicks Surjit, "Why aren't you waking up Surjit?" "Get up! They are calling you!" Even though they are separate from bodies and names, but in sleep everyone was One So because of the Avidya- unconscious sleep all are separate but the foundation behind the unconsciousness is only One- The Brahman- That's not two All differences are because of name and form and your mind And name, form and mind, these three are illusions Thus says, 'Amrit Bindu Upnishad'! The 'I' identified by the body and mind, is false The 'I' identified by the intellect, is also false While living in the falsehood, how can the 'Truth' be achieved? 'Ekda Bahuda Chaiv Drishyate Jal Chandravat' That one Moon appears as many. When? When it's reflection falls in water Okay, imagine there being 10-15 vessels on the roof of your house So there were 10-15 reflections of the Moon We throw away the water from all the vessels, like pitcher, tumbler, glass or plate We remove all the water So did all those reflections die? All of you have become so wise!
