a [Music] [Music] I have started the practice of pulsating in rhythmic om based on the OM meditation audio on Amit Vera I chant along I wanted to ask if the chanting must be done verbally only or if it can be done mentally too the kind of uh disturbances and challenges and confusions delusions and external World interactions and too much of obsessive nature of mind being involved in this and that holding on to all comments which you listen about you uh holding on to all the information which is coming around you and that all is creating so much of disturbance in the mind that if you think that you can do the chant mentally and oh you will fail miserably so it's very important that the person should with this particular meditation method should always begin with the verbal chant the chanting happening in the uh at the level of the mind is only possible when there is a certain quality of stability lack of Duality lack of confusions lack of no dissipated mind so as we say it manasik job or the japam done with being silent you're not moving your tongue you're not moving your lips it's hard it's really hard and there are certain people who can't even do the verbal chant properly for them then the method comes of the Kon doing the Kiran where other music instruments and other singers are involved so much more grosser form of uh sound energy is created with that when loud drums are played tbla is played um loud symbols are played many many people are singing very uh joyously with love with with lot of devotion that will create a very different energy because every thump of the every beat of the drum is going to stir up something to all those people who are present at that time so for the pulsating om meditation it is very much uh advisable one should do it verbally see when the right time will come then automatically the need or wish or the will to speak will just go away it will just fade away that is if the mind will be immersed conjoining with that sound this whole science about the sound and through the point of view of physics is a very intriguing thing so if we go about into the kind of the sound waves which get created at a certain desable level at a certain Hearts will have a very different impact say if somebody plays the national anthem of our country the moment you listen to it automatically you will stand up and sing along so there are certain emotions which are going to trigger once you hear that particular song particular Rhythm particular notes which have been used so the sound has an immense effect on your body on your mind so doing home uh verbally and see there is a rhythm which has been created and there is a that's synchronized because you quickly have to take a uh inhalation and then you do the otherwise you'll miss the whole train which many people do so not to miss the train actually you have to match my breathing rate with you so if you match then you are doing it along you're listening and you are doing it so it's like a double impact one you are doing it you are creating a sound energy in your body and mind and you are listening through your ears that sound is going to stir up your whole nervous system so it is to be done uh verbally it should be loud enough not not shrieking but loud enough that you enjoy the sound and also when the mind will go into depths of the sound and the impact has uh Arisen automatically the Mind wouldn't like to say it the mind would just get uh dissolved into that sound vibrations and the Mantra if this this happens oh be my guest then just listen to the track as long as uh it's playing it's an immense energy actually it's an immense energy and especially the sound of om is so invigorating and it is so calming and it is um so mesmerizing like there was this experiment done a small baby was crying and couldn't sleep so um the mother started doing a long chant of oh now she's just doing the home and like it's the midtones not high pitch not too low it's a midtones which she took and just a few oh and the baby was sleeping even in the lais which Once Upon a Time the mother used to sing these days nobody sings um the laabi had a repetition of word plus it would be sung the the very husky low tones and it is repetition and I think so the the babies would get bored by Mom saying again and again Sleep Baby Sleep Baby get bored okay sleeping don't bother me too much but this is something which many of my um disciples have come back with this uh testimonials that when they put the home uh album on the child very quickly is specified well if child is wellfed and is clean not if the child is hungry and has soiled his or her nappy so if the child is happy happily fed is clean and you play or you sing om to them it has been found very quickly they go into sleep a good sleep so this uh chant is being used by many young mothers these days and I have scores of uh emails which come and they say that now our child doesn't sleep until we put it might be Vu it might be om it might be mul manra it might be om namash sha variety of mantras are there so it is being used by many mothers and I think so Mantra not only works for that young baby or a young child but it also works to the mother because the mother's nerves are also getting soed so both mom and the baby are calm and relaxed and both can have a good sleep and mothers need it more and of course babies uh need their sleep because they grow well in their sleep somehow all all uh civilizations and all cultures have this uh term of laabi where the mothers are singing to their babies language might be different uh ways of singing might be different but this lais are there everywhere in every country every culture every civilization so it is again one of a very powerful example of how the sound can soothe you how the sound can bring calmness to your nerves I like to give one more example one time my mother she was in amiter she was driving her car and somehow accident happened she rammed her car in a wall and uh she broke quite a bones leg and her uh I think so hip joint she was in great pain she was taken to hospital now they wanted to to do an an MRI but she is fidgeting in pain and her heart rate was up and her blood pressure was up and they said now we have to give you some medication to bring calmness and Mom heard all this conversation and and she said in this broken bones she mastered the courage and she said oh no no medication for me give me 10 minutes and then in 10 minutes you can check if medication is required or not so she's lying on her stretcher and she started doing uh mental Mantra chanting with rotating her Consciousness to the various body part like if she would be doing yog Nitra so she is using her Consciousness to connect with the body from toe to head and repeating the Mantra om in her mind 10 minutes doctor comes in to take her pulse to take her bp and voila it's all normal and remember she had two broken bones her acetabulum was broken her tibia was broken and actually the the ball was crushed and was out of the the socket also in that pain she did this and they were surprised they did the MRI and then the doctor asked what did you do she said whatever my Guru had taught me in this difficult difficult time I could use that and later on she uh made the doctors also to do yog Nitra so the thing is it's one of the very painful thing for a body to have broken bones so much pain and the impact of that accident was that her BB had shut up her pulse rate was very high and well they can't put the person in an MRI machine can't do anything they had to you know bring the BEP in the normal range and it worked so when I met her she said that to my rescue was the Mantra to my Rescuers my practice of yog Nidra which she wouldn't leave until the day she died she did it every day every day and sometimes uh when her body was sick in her last days she would do twice a day and she said this relaxes me it takes off my mind away from the body pain and the illness which was there giving these examples I reiterate my point that the verbalization of the Mantra has a very powerful impact on our body and actually It prepares you to move in into the manasik job when you do the job in the mind and this manasik job in the correct proportion at the maturation of uh the japam the mind will move into meditative State and that is where there is no Mantra no word no stirring up is happening in the mind and that's just a uh still Lake where not even a small bubble is happening not even a small wave is uh seen on the surface of the lake so from the sound to soundlessness from the Mantra to danana that is the whole journey so we we don't do mantra for sake of doing Mantra we don't do mantra for sake of counting how many numbers we have done well it's good if you're doing Anana if there is no anush then there is no restrict ition and there is no limit but one should know the utility of the Mantra that is in initially it brings the mind to the centering you know the mind is centered integrated attentive quiet concentrated and then slowly as it uh dips down further and it will bring so much of calmness that the Mind wouldn't like to utter a single word be it even a mantra because now I I say it that the Mantra and the mind has become one so just enjoying the Stillness that's best
