Should you go with the Flow Anandmurti Gurumaa (with English subtitles)

This much of a Hindi you can understand, Sachin! Once upon a time there was a King. Very wise, Very calm! Very great saintly King. Then enemies attacked his kingdom. King had always heard gyana & attended spiritual discourses. So he had never prepared an army for the war. Hence the enemy king took over his kingdom and he was thrown out of the palace. He was not killed. He was not killed because they thought - What is the point of killing him, he is harmless. Now the king turned into a beggar. This king started to live in his own kingdom. The king thought - Here I know everybody - I will survive, its ok. What is the need to go to a new place. He started living like any regular resident in his own kingdom. Then after some time passed, enemy king got sick. And he died due to this illness. He had no children. So all ministers thought - 'How can a kingdom run without a king? What shall we do now? We need a king.' One minister suggested that our previous king is still here. He suggested - 'Let's bring him back as our king.' Everyone got together & went to see him. They said - 'O King! Throne is empty. There is no heir, there is no one to fight for this throne. Enemy king's army is now ours. His treasure has now become ours. treasure has increased as well as army which we did not have earlier. So please come & rule the kingdom.' He said - 'Ok! Let's go. I shall go with you.' This is called 'Go with the flow.' Being a king - Go with the flow! He lost everything - Go with the flow! Now when he regained the throne without moving a finger - Go with the flow! So this is the statement of only a realized person. This is the statement of a Self-realized being. This cannot be the statement of a materialistic/worldly person. Let me tell you how worldly people use this statement - Four friends planned to go for a party in a restaurant. Three of them were alcoholic - one of them was not. The other 3 said - 'Go with the flow! We are drinking so you should also drink some. We are eating butter chicken - so you should eat as well. Go with the flow.' So this fourth friend ate butter chicken as well as drank alcohol. When he reached home, his wife opened the door. He smelled of alcohol. Wife said - 'Are you drunk?' He replied - 'What can I do? My friends said - Go with the flow and I flew.' Wife took out her footwear. Then she also did - go with the flow. 'Now my sandal will fly towards you. Have you gone mad, are you out of your mind? What kind of friends you have? How can you just drink like this' So when go with the flow rain of sandals was over, he then replied - 'No go with the flow from this point onwards. From now on, if anyone says - I will never go with the flow. So just pardon me - I am sorry I made a mistake. Finish the topic.' Go with the flow does not mean what people inferred it to be. Four friends were together with their girlfriends. They suddenly thought - 'Let's go to Manali. Go with the flow.' So they just sat in the car & drove away. They had not even crossed Kulu city yet that landslide occurred. Due to this they got stuck. They were sitting there & crying - Go with the flow happened! She called her mom - 'Mom we got stuck. Landslide occurred & the road is blocked. We have nothing to eat here. We have money but we are right in the middle of forest..there are no shops here. Now what shall we do?' Then the flow of mother's curse started to happen. Go with the flow! 'Go with the flow' is not suitable statement for the worldly person. Whatever is happening is good. Whatever will happen will also be good. Whatever I get is good, whatever I don't get, I don't need it. So in both joy & sorrow, in honor & dishonor, in sin & virtue, in give & take - the one who stays equinamous, one whose mind is never perturbed, one whose mind is always at peace, only that person has the right to say - 'Go with the flow.' Very beautifully... In Panchdasi, Vidyaranya Swami says - If a body of a Self-realized being dies right now, he will not be shocked. And if a realized being lives for even 1000 of years, then he will never be excited. This is called - 'Go with the flow.' 'Sam sukheshu dukheshu...' During the period of joy & sorrow... they did not say that gyani will not face sorrow, he will face both joy & sorrow but he will stay calm during joy and calm during sorrow as well. One who stays peaceful in every circumstance - that person is called gyani. If we look from the perspective of a bhakta (devotee) then there is such a joy/bliss in devotee that devotee sings - 'I love the flowers given by you, thorns too I love. 'I love the flowers given by you, thorns too I love. Whatever you wish to give me, you can give, O mighty Creator! O nurturer of the world! 'I love the flowers given by you, thorns too I love. Whatever you wish to give me, you can give, O mighty Creator! O nurturer of the world! Whether you give joy or sorrow, whether you give joy or sorrow - We will accept both. Whether you give joy or sorrow, we will accept both. O Lord, take the boat of my life in any direction you wish! O Lord, take the boat of my life in any direction you wish! 'I love the flowers given by you, thorns too I love...' So only a gyani (realized being) can say such a thing or a bhakta (devotee). One who is not a gyani nor a bhakta - if such a person says 'Go with the flow' - it will be troublesome. Traffic will be less during night time so they will be able to drive fast - with this thought there were young boys in the car. Traffic signal came, it was a red light. Friend advised - 'Go with the flow - don't stop!' They jumped the red light and as soon as they crossed it, there were two police cars who stopped them. Policemen said - 'Where?' Driver said - 'Oh, I did not see the red light.' Policeman said - 'When you will be made to sit in prison, then you will definitely see all the lights - red, yellow, green, blue! For doing wrong deeds & doing what pleases you - saying 'Go with the flow' - it is not a good thing.
