We are breathing, we are not aware of the air We are also not aware of the value of air Assume that someone closes your nose and mouth Not more, for one or one and half minutes A human being doesn't die in one & a half minute But not even one and half, rather before a minute your whole body will be in agony You will struggle to get yourself free from that man, so that you can breathe One of my acquaintances had a liver transplantation & it cost him Rs. 40 lakhs It's been one and half months he is still recuperating So the thing which is present and is very essential and that we have it but we never value Body is also outside Within the body, there are senses then within the senses it's mind and within the mind subtler than the mind there is God Are you getting it? This is the sequence Body is gross Your senses are more subtler than your body Your mind is more subtler than your sense organs And subtler even to your mind is the absolute abstract existence, which you may call God, Ram whatever you may wish to give it to it Because it is so close Hence you don't value it But there is no way that we will separate you from that existence so that you will feel the importance of that existence We can make you understand, by you know, the importance of air or your any organ But what can we do to make you feel the presence, importance of God 'God' is a very tainted word So that's why I wish to go into word 'parabrahma' or 'absolute existence' I am more comfortable with that when I say 'God' then Christian God, Muslim God, Sikh God Who is a God ... no God ... God ... It's very debatable But when I say 'parabrahma' it is still not that sullied God is there & is the closest to me and may be that's why I don't value it perhaps I don't feel it's necessity Now at the level of body hunger, thirst, sleep is there You don't have to tell anyone Everyone has those necessities Tiredness, sleep, everyone feels that & everybody needs it If seen, where is the need of God? Neither it is your basic necessity not it is the urge of your body nor it is the passion of your mind So why would anyone have time for it? That's why when you meet me or come here then suddenly it feels what is this? It also feels good It's not that you don't feel good It feels interesting it feels adventurous It requires a great intellect & a great intelligence to understand what I say especially when it comes to Vedanta & Upanishada It needs a great intellect, it is very challenging to understand But still when there is that distance ... when a person goes into the so called regular social life then he forgets everything Because Now I will say ... there is not enough exposure Now the environment which you have, it's very toxic The environment in which you people are living is not a very good environment It might be good at home because your parents are very sensible and have spiritual inclination It's a good one But friends school your classes, your accountancy friends ... here and there on the road so everywhere that environment, the atmosphere is such that Again all that what you see around in the society is something which is going to titillate your mind & titillate your senses And we have those deep urges from so many birth that the moment like you see somebody eating, say anything sourish some like golgappa or chat The moment you see that, your own experience is there, your memory is there Your mouth will begin to saliva it & you would like to eat that You see somebody, now you are in your 20s So you see somebody going with the girlfriend talking about her & obviously your mind & body is so ready for ... You know all these physical & biological needs are going to come up, so mind is going to go there But in this all drama what takes the back seat is the truth The truth gets the back seat And this, this means body wins, mind wins senses wins everything wins But you lose Because when I talk to a 80-90 years old man who has worked for 12-14 hours a day He gave all his life to home & family Whoever meets me after the age of 70, they meet me with a regret Everyone complains that Why didn't we listen to all this before? Why didn't we meet before? And we can't do this, we can't do that The mind becomes so useless to do something becomes difficult for him. Because they get used to the bad habits If someone comes to the ashram at 60 All his life he had tea after waking at 6am So here also he expects & misses that 'He doesn't get tea in the morning' He is used to eating a particular kind of food & it is his habit When he comes & lives here, he misses his food and he misses his bed ... So at the end of the day whom does he miss? The petty needs So difficult to ... You know to reprogram the brain of that person So that 'balance' which people say often that how should we bring balance? So I always say balance happens when In a balance on one side we have 5kg weight & on other side we have 5kg mangoes Now 4 mangoes are there, now put a small mango, so that it will be equal to 5kg So if the weight is 5kg & the mangoes are also 5kg, it is done. So this is the balance So the balance between spirituality & the world will happen When, suppose you have studied in school & college for 10 years. Then you stay here with me for 10 years Then I will make balance And if you have gone to school for 8 hours daily then in a week have 4 days at school & give 3 days to me Learn what I teach & do what I ask you to do Let it be 4:3 ratio atleast Then I can even think of some balance This is not happening So where would the balance come from? It becomes very difficult, obviously it's going to be very challenging So it is all about your intelligence I always say this that At the back of mind, if it's importance is remembered & known It's not that it's importance is only felt after listening It's like you just remembered one thing Something is pinching you inside that I didn't meditate in the morning You must be feeling regretful that I didn't do asanas today You must think that should I go & watch a 3 hour film in the cinema hall because a new film has come Or for those 3 hours I sit here & study 'Atmabodha' So out of the two, which is beneficial? New stories, cinema are coming every week, every friday, every 3 months Some are not good & some are good. But they keep on coming. You watch once. Then what after that? If a friend says, let's go and watch the film again. You will say it's not that good that I will watch again So the fun is only for a little time. What after that? You don't like it after that If someone asks you to watch the movie for free. You will say 'No, no I don't enjoy it, you go I don't want to go.' So should I watch cinema or read books? Should I go for clubbing or give some time to myself and observe my mind or do pranayama Should I correct my asanas as I am unable to give much time in the morning so evening is good, body is more flexible So may be I should do my asanas in the evening Now this is something which won't balance But atleast when you create this kind of priority about your spiritual practices then of course you will be doing your 8 hours or 6 hours studies but then you will give, you know a point that I have to sit down for an hour or more than an hour or at least before I sleep for at least half an hour I have to do certain spiritual yogic practice could be 'pranav', could be observing breath could be listening to something good So, how do I begin my day and how do I end my day? That should be in your control Other than that the urges the compulsions of the education of friends, of peers, of neighbours, of relatives, everything is actually there to take you away from this This is the problem Now in this only one thing is left that are you intelligent or not? Your intellect challenges it or not Do you think that? Is it worthwhile for me to waste my time? or I just want to ... you know do stupid things. I know it is stupid thing but still I want to do it But if you choose to do something stupid, then you cannot say that you were pushed to do it Then you take the responsibility No, I did something which I shouldn't have done Or I could have more creatively & in a more productive way, I could have used my time It's not about spiritual thing only Those who are artists or painters or those have scientific bent of mind they are never seen wasting their time here & there Because they are so hooked up to their You know their projects & their work or their practices of whatever instrument they are learning They love that So where is the passion where is the ... So this, this the mind has to ... you know select It shouldn't be compulsion I don't want anybody to do anything like an imposition But it should be your choice It's not compulsion from my side But it should be your choice complusively Are you getting what I am saying? If I put an imposition on you, that will be I am taking away your liberty But When you choose no I don't want to do this But I would like to do this That is how you keep on putting fuel in your passion of learning about your own self I am not talking about God which you have no relationship actually with.
