'Guru Guru Guru kar man mor, Guru bina mai naahi hor'- I am nothing without my Guru; they will translate it like that- We are nothing without the Guru But if we look from the perspective of Vedanta, it's meaning is completely different To whom they are saying Guru? Guru refers to Chaitanya-swaroopa Guru means Tatva- swaroopa, Tatva is chaitanya Similarly I am neither body, mind nor intellect, I am also chaitanya swaroopa Then Am I anything different from the Guru? 'Guru Bina mai nahi hor' But even this is also true, when we gave the meaning that we are nothing without Guru Or We can't live without Guru, There's no issue in that, even this is fine- an expression of devotee's love and devotion 'agyanaditadupahit chaitanyabhyaam' 'Taptayah pindavadaviviktam sat mahavakyasa vacyam' 'Viviktam sallaksyamiti cocyate' See after discarding the veil of ignorance, discarding the veil that covers the mind The real self is ever conscious, the infinite, the eternal the truth-ever-conscious-blissful existence That which you call Ishwara or Parmatman Would it be truth or untruth? Should it be conscious or inert? Should it be an epitome of grief and pain or of blissful existence? Should it be limited by space or omnipresent? So that which is truth-ever-conscious-blissful existence and omnipresent is the Parmatman Sometimes it seems easier to understand 'tat swaroopa' is like that But when I say 'Tvam'- you are true existence- Yes Ever conscious- Yes Blissful -Yes, All-pervasive - How's that possible? How? Like the space There is one tree and the entire forest as well- There's no division in space. Likewise, there is no distinction in chaitanya-swaroopa But the one who links his identity with this body-mind Can he understand that Atman is omnipresent? No Attached and associated with body-mind That Ignorant being is unable to understand this So first, one needs to investigate what 'Tvam' is Delve deep and research who 'you' are? Then investigate what 'tat' means And then- 'tat tvam asi' Or to put it simply it is: 'I am Parmatman' Taking next verse 'agyanasya avarana vikshepanamak amasti saktidayam' 'agyanasya' There are two forces in agyan (ignorance) The subject is getting subtler, listen with more attention In agyan there is 'dwaya' in Sanskrit, if you count then one will be - Ekam and two will be 'dwaya' There are two forces in agyana Two forces - avarana and vikshepa Avarana conceals Vikshepa propels, it stirs What is nature of agyana? In which there are two forces First it will conceal See, Avarana has veiled your mind, Neither you know who I am nor who Parmatman is? Second is Vikshepa The grief that emanates, from where does it come? Vikshepa is sorrow only Or you may put it like this, wherever there is vikshepa, there is sorrow There can be no grief in a calm mind Sorrow is present only in disturbed mind If your mind is always calm You will always be in repose But when it becomes agitated Only then there will be sorrow My wife doesn't listens to me My husband doesn't listen to me My kids don't listen to me We don't have enough money, my house is too small Sometimes it is difficult even for the master that disciples don't listen to me and sometimes disciples say that master doesn't listens to us When to want thigs to happen as per your wishes and they don't-vikshepa occurs When Vikshepa occurs, it brings sorrow Which force is of vikshepa? Of agyan And avarana is also a force of agyana So agyana works with these two powers Therefore, it means presence of agyana in a mind means there is avarana and vikshepa in the mind Avarana means there is some veil is also there and mind is fickle too Many people say, we don't wish to have grief; we don't want sorrow But they are not willing to leave their attachments to things and beings But they say, may we get happy too As long as you have desires that desires will not get fulfilled, then then you will be unhappy People want their sorrows to go away How? O God! please fulfill my wishes and wants Now tell me honestly All the places of worship you have visited till today with desire of wish-fulfillment, have all those wishes been granted? When people don't get what they begged from the God, they sigh- 'I don't know; Maybe it (What I asked for) wasn't God's will' The one who has a 'will' cannot be a God! If so called God have some will or wants That is not God, it is just a jeeva then, he too will cry That which has no will, we call It the God But you went with desire of wish-fulfillment, if it's fulfilled Then it's grace of God and if not Two things can happen, Either you will declare that there is no God Or you will say that God is upset with you Okay, If God can become upset with anyone- will he remain a God? He becomes human then Mind is sometimes happy; sometimes unhappy Sometimes one feels nice to be with, sometimes not If God also begins to like or dislike someone then even he'll be in a trouble He too will be in depression and in stress Such God will go seeking a Guru, 'Help! these jeevas don't listen to me!' Vikshepa happens when your desires are not fulfilled And vikshepa happens when there is avarana Avarana means a veil It means not knowing What will happen tomorrow? Then you go to astrologers, please tell, 'what will happen tomorrow?' But the one who is not keen to know the future, will he rush to astrologer? He won't bother I am good in contemplation of gyana and I will remain so tomorrow The body's nature is to perish one day and so it will die, Atman never dies Then why should I be afraid of anything? What should I fret over? That is why you will never see any wise person sitting next to an astrologer To whom he should ask? What he should ask? The one for whom the world is an illusion- why would he want to know how long he will live! The one who has realised that chaitanya swaroopa is bliss And I am that bliss Which pleasure would he seek, wait for, or run after That when will the next auspicious 'dasha' come so that good things may happen to me When will that happen? Vikshepa implies something is desired So when you desire something, know that some trouble is going to come Desire is punishment Don't desire anything Stop desiring, start living care-free You'll be in misery if you desire and if you are desire-free You'll be in a bliss In which state you want to be? You choose You decide If you want to be in bliss then stop desiring Many a times people meet me and say, 'Everything is fine, but.." 'Everything is alright, but.." This 'but' kills you Kill the 'but' Avarana (veil of ignorance) and vikshepa (agitation of mind) are two forces of agyana This is a very deep revelation, Catch it Vikshepa and avarana, Avaran means not knowing 'Who am I? Don't know? This is avaran What is the mind? Don't know? This is avaran How does intellect works? Don't know? This is avaran How does prana operate in the body? Don't know? Avaran again How this body is formed? Don't know? This is avaran Who is Parmatman, what is 'tat'? Don't know? Avaran How this mind is such a big trouble? don't know? Avaran And this not-knowing is the cause of grief And if you desire something and you don't get it, even that is a cause of grief or sorrow It can also be said that avaran causes vikshepa And the more the vikshepa, the deeper the avaran gets, Like The key to your house is in your purse But meanwhile after shopping from the market, as you reach home, you get a phone call Saying that your brother has met with an accident Now you need to enter the house To get some money so that you can go hospital, you want to take out that key from your purse and you are unable to, your hands are trembling Hands are trembling, mind is in fear Don't know what has happened.. what has happened.. Someone else says give me the purse We'll take out the keys and open the door for you Key is with you, purse is with you, What happened? Why your hands are shaking? Anxiety comes, Why? Why the fear? Because you don't know what has happened! Agyana- because of not-knowing, then vikshepa as the accident happened It can be a dangerous situation, don't know what has happened? Just with the popping of this thought, neither your hands are in your command Nor you can do anything right and in fear, all goes haywire This pair of vikshepa and avaran are consequences of what? Agyana Now you tell me, shouldn't there be any effort to eradicate this ignorance? The reason why there is disturbance in life The reason why there are veils of ignorance in life, if you didn't uplift them then -- in your life, the Vikshepa may come any time- today or tomorrow or at any given moment Your 'not-knowing' becomes your biggest enemy But the irony is that people are not pained by their Agyana 'What is the need to understand tat-swaroopa?' Be merry, raise children; go partying, bear kids, travel around? In what circle have you got stuck? 'Have to listen Vedanta!' Have you gone crazy? What is the need of this (Gyana)? In a way they are saying, 'what is the need to eradicate vikshepa, stay in vikshepa' They are saying, 'what is the need to eradicate the veils of ignorance, let it be, why we bother where is Parmatman?' 'What we have to do with this (knowing) that Atman is truth or not?' 'Atman is Parmatman or not? Leave this fight' 'Come, let's party' And billions of people living on this earth are doing this only The one who is not pained by his agyana; this Brahman vidya is not for such person For whom this Brahman-vidya is? The one who is pained by his ignorance And the irony is, people are not pained by their ignorance Everyone is happy in their job, wife, partying, nice homes This is good; that is good- Who needs Gyana? Nobody is in search of eternal wisdom! And without the eyes of gyana People keep wandering in this maze of the samsara And their wanderings can never end Until this duality of Agyana is not eradicated from the mind Duvidha- two Two means- Avaran and vikshepa When will the Avaran and vikshepa get eradicated? Only when the Gyana dawns in life.
