The Guru says, "Meditate!" Then, do so. And go further into it; means dive deeper.... The sage says, "Study Thy-self!" Then, do so. Now, how to say? See, I have grown up with the scriptures. Just with scriptures, I have grown up. In childhood, they read... magazine... newspaper, film... Such magazines... I have only read the scriptures. I was in standard 8 when I read Vichar Sagar. 8th... In Vedantic language, this is considered as the hardest scripture. So, this one... -Read in VIII Class. I was in X standard when I held the Bhagvad Geeta for the first time in the hands to comprehend it. And today, even at the age of 52, when I hold the Bhagvad Geeta, then read it, then, I feel, "Arey! How incredible!" Like a kid gets a toy, then he jumps around in joy, So, at times, such a great happiness is there, That, in my heart of hearts, I'm searching for someone to share what it revealed! It's so great! & in 1 line, sometimes such beautiful things come out. I have been singing Gurbani shabads since childhood. However, even today, there are so many such shabads... When I start singing, then the lotus of the heart blooms, it blooms so exquisitely that I am overwhelmed to think how to express it! with such great bliss and happiness, the mind fills up, that eyes well up with tears. So much... So beautifully, how may one write? How...? Right?... Now when I saw, then, How to say? How wonderful! Now, when, it came in Urdu... All in Urdu. So, as it came in Urdu, then no worries, I didn't feel bothered. As in my home, one of my father's teacher, from Punjab, Gujranwala, Pakistan, who had migrated here... So, he came to teach our mother Urdu. She studied Urdu. We all sat & observed; what is going on? What's this order? What's he teaching? No worries! Well, here's the homework! Right! My homework has come. Bulleh Shah Ji has given homework, No worries, lets' study. So, joining the words, with those letters, the bliss that comes...That bliss which comes, now how can one express this bliss, what's the experience? So, what can you possibly miss with the scriptures? But, you do not read the scriptures. You read the political magazines- Scandalous... news-Economic scandal, political scandal, sex scandal- You love scandals! Your brain is involved in negative news. You keep listening to negative news. See, in your home, in your drawing room, your neighbor comes, throws garbage, how would you feel? Literally, think about it. Create a picture. You're sitting in your home's drawing room, clean, spic & span. The neighbor came & he emptied his whole garbage of the week in your drawing room, on the sofa, on the table. What would you do? What would you say?-Thank you very much. Please visit again. Come tomorrow as well. Bring more from neighbors'! It's fallen short. The stench is only mild. Bring the one with intense smell. What would you say? -You'd fight. "Well, are you nuts?" If someone throws garbage at your home's gate, then you don't like that. Letting someone throw it inside the home is far off thing! But, when in your mind, someone leaves the filth of evil, how happy you are! Okay, tell more! What else happened? Who eloped with whom? Who's involved in affair with whom? Who gobbled up someone's money? Which minister did what? What conspired in the neighborhood? What happened of him? Of her? All the world's filthy matters, evil things, backbiting things, slandering- you allow this filth to go into the mind. Then, you feel great! What weird people you are? If someone throws into the home, then, you fight! And you let filth pour into the mind and feel happy? So, with the eyes, if you have to see, then, see the scripture. When you have to listen from the ear, then listen the scripture's word. And if you have to speak with your tongue, Then speak only of auspicious, thoughtful, True Knowledge. So, keep your mind clean. But, with so much joy you feel by listening to evil things, & slandering people. Listening to slander of people, then enhancing it more, making it 10X... or 20X bigger, -The news should be spicy. So, spices keep on getting added. So, don't wreck yourself. Keep your mind effulgent. Keep the mind pure. Keep the mind clean. And how does the mind get pure? -The mind gets purified with the contemplation of purification. The mind gets cleaned... How? -When we... Aha! Incredibly pure, the most pure, primal, fathomless, that Almighty, when we listen to things about Him, when we reflect on things about Him, then, this seed is going into your mind. Today, we sow the seeds, these very seeds would be flowers. These very seeds would be trees, And, in your mind, then...What kind of sutras would appear! What kinds of sutras would appear? Presently, all kinds of dangerous things appear! A wife, comes... & says to her husband, "What're you doing?" She said, "I'm very tired. Taking rest. Regardless of who comes, don't wake me up." She said,"Okay!" But, she came back in just 10 minutes. She said, "Get up, fast!" He said, "What?" She said, "Someone's standing outside, he's saying, its a question of life & death!" He said, "What reckoned?!" He ran to check. "What happened?" He said, "I'm an insurance agent!" [Audience laughs] It's a question of life & death. -"Whose?" -"Yours," "if you die, how'd your wife survive? How will your kids live?" "What about your father, your mother?" Get an insurance. Mad man. I am resting. What are you saying? You must listen to satsang in such a way that its a question of your life & death. If a single line of True Knowledge seeps inside your heart, then you will get rid of birth & death. So, isn't it a question of life & death? Do not listen in this way that... Okay! They're giving a discourse, so we've heard, partially sleepy & partially... It's different that in front of me no one like this sits, such that they're falling sleepy, or going into a slumber. Only one case had occurred. That one case was that, I.. When I went to satsang in this very temple, So, there was a woman, her name was Raj Rani, she used to sit in front & sleep. She fell asleep... So... I never cared for anyone... I said loudly, on the mic itself, "Raj Rani!" -"Yes, Ma'am!" In some time, she slept again. Then, I... As many times... "Raj Rani!" ...-"Yes, Ma'am!" It went on for a few days, then I called upon her. I asked, "Why do you fall asleep!" She said, "How to say, but we are into milk business!" "So, at 3 AM in the morning, I wake up every day. I help my family-husband & kids. So, I am up at 2:30-3:00 AM." "So, I awake at 2:30-3:00 AM, then keep on working, So, there's..." I said, "If you get tired after working, then why do you come to satsang? Rest at your home." She said, "That's again a thing, I won't hide from you! There's no electricity at home; in the temple, there is!" [Audience laughs] At home, there's no electricity at home. How to sleep in hot weather!? And, here, the temple was equipped with a battery back-up for the satsang. So, she said, "Here, we have electricity!" "So, that's why I come! Today, I'm telling you everything truthfully!" I said, "See, now, you've told your truth, no? I won't" "say anything to you. You may sleep undisturbed, no problem! So, now," "this is our understanding. You can sleep." I said, "But, don't snore!" [GuruJi laughs] "I don't mind your sleeping. You're tired. No problem. Take rest." "No worries at all!" Means, she said this thing to me so innocently, without playing any games, "There's no electricity at home. Here, there is!" "But," she said, "when you speak," "it feels like a lullaby!" [Audience laughs] She said, "Though I do not fall asleep easily. But, listening to you, it feels like a lullaby!" "So, I sleep soundly!" Other than Raj Rani, nobody is allowed to sleep. -Nobody. So, your listening should be with such attentiveness, I would call it 'art of listening'. How you should listen. The way to listen. Consider this. If someone say that I 'll tell you the lottery number, I bet you, this number will surely win. It's a 10 Crore Bumper Prize & I'm going to say the number. Listen! Won't repeat. Won't give it in writing. How would you listen? How would you listen? And someone says... Leave money aside... Someone says to you... "Your daughter-in-law was saying this about you!" How would you listen? "And your business competitor," whoever that is.... "To damage your business," "this is what he's going to do!" "What's he doing? What's he doing?" "Say na, what's he going to do!" You speak only a part of it & leave it! The poor chaps would get flustered. They'll say, "How is this? Come on, say it. Say it, now!" So, how should you listen to True knowledge? -With rapt attention! With great... attention! With great, great....Concentration! If you, in this way, listen, then, this makes your listening to scripture, listening satsang bejeweled, bedecked, 4X, 8X, 16X, 24X.... 32X,... Keep counting... It will enhance like this... As much more as I say, it will fall short. The more I'll say, the more it'll fall short. Understand this thing & this thing... you embrace. A very beautiful Abhang, in Marathi, this one... Listen... "Majha manorath puran kar deva||" 'Majha' means mine. Manorath' means that which is my heart's wish, Hey Dev! Fulfill this desire of my mind! Now, what is the desire at this time! Let there be fulfillment, let there be auspiciousness, let there be wellness, let there be peace! So, peace, wellness, auspiciousness, fulfillment... Hey, Dev. Fulfill this desire of mine! Whatever the effort needed to fulfill this desire, may I make it fully without any loopholes, but, still, there's a prayer, "Hey, Dev, may this desire of mine be fulfilled!" So, today, you, alongside me, sing Marathi. See... "Majha manorath puran kar Deva!" "O....Oh....!" "O....Oh!" [Music] [Claps] Fulfill my desire, O Deva! Fulfill my desire, O Deva!... Fulfill my desire, O Deva! Keshava, 'n' Madhava, Narayana... Keshava, Madhava, Narayana...
