I do not want to gratify anyone. Neither you, nor your parents. However, the beautiful possibilities prsent in you, I see those beautiful possibilities. then, I feel that when you can live your life in beautiful way; doing so much good to the society; doing a lot of good for yourself. Then, why not? No? When We do not get the right training, then, we do all wrong things. So, I understand that it's my good fortune as well, and it's your good fortune too, that you're present here from the last three days, learning these things. practicing them also. In the morning, you're doing yoga also. Many things you are listening to-many of them, you couldn't get, probably; Many, you could also understand. However, every talk, every thing which settled in your intellect surely would leave a great impact on your life. So, we can beautify our life by ourselves. I consider living with self-respect as life. -Where you do something for yourself. -Where you do not eye your ancestral income. Boys, I have observed, often have the attitude that father got grandfather's property. I would get father's property. So, whether I study or nor, how will it matter? Even illiterate get married, So, I will also get married. I don't have such a bad look, after all! Will wear good clothing! Either, I will woo some girl Or the family would itself fetch on searching. So, what's the problem? If this is your strategy, planning for your life, then, I feel so pity on your intellect. But, mostly, this is what they think. The girls' condition, if I see, they're going to school, college, but only with this hope; decked up completely they go-someone may check, choose, and that's it! Study is only until the marriage. The day the marriage takes place, That's it! Where do the books got sold as waste paper? They cannot be dug out in any way now. I found it so strange, when I was in 12th standard... Ehhh, in college... And one of girls in my class was getting married. She was so carried away, laughed, threw whims in such a way! Showed her attitude to all as if she is going to get what? -A Nobel prize! What's going to happen? And, seeing her, I felt so strange that this idiot girl; -Don't you have any goal in your life? However, she also has been wrongly trained by her parents. -Whereby, day and night, only this is there-The girl is a burden. The girl should just go to her home. Let's wash our hands off her! Let's fulfill our responsibility! Let's sleep peacefully. She's a girl. May our honour be saved. One thing is, the honour kills them at all times! No? They say-What will others say? For everything, they will say, "Son, study nicely!" "Otherwise, what will others say?" Ask them sometime, who are these "others"? Tell the address of these others, we will inquire from them that what problem do you have with us? So, what will others... What others... will say, what the world will say? Study-study, study-study! And just as the girl crosses 15 or 16, the family starts searching for a boy-"Is there any boy you know?" "Is there any boy you know?" Just this program gets started. And boys are also just waiting that the family may ask-when will you marry? When will you marry? He's also waiting. Okay, elder brother got married, now it's my turn. Small, big-No? Everybody is just waiting to get married. as if marriage is something, which is heaven. Well! It can be hellish experience for some. Yes, Right! I was just reading today. A quote on the marriage. Father and son were sitting and son said- -"Father, what do you think, what is the cost of a marriage?" Father said, "Well, I don't know. I am still paying!" -"I am still paying the bills! So, I have no idea." A dietitian was giving a lecture. And was talking about the dangers of eating contaminated food and drinking contaminated drinks. And he gave a long, long list of all those things which can make you sick. And at the end of his lecture, He asked a gentleman who was sitting right in front. He said, "Well, have you ever experienced any kind of food related sickness? Gentleman stood up. And he said, "Yes! I ate my wedding cake!" [Guruji laughs] [Audience applauds] The tubelight lit up with a delay! This tubelight lights up late. It's understood late. No? One person said, "All those that are not married, they should be taxed." They asked, "Why?" He said, "As they are happy... if, so, they should be charged some tax for it, no?" So, the one that stays unmarried, should pay tax. Marriage is not the ultimate aim of life. -Cannot be! As I was talking about that girl who was in may batch mate. She was that excited, jumpy, dancing in the whole college campus. -I'm getting married, I'm getting married! Which donkey met her? [Laughter] Then, after 5 years or so, I saw her walking with three children. Hmm.. every year One production! [laughter] [Guruji also laughs] [Applause!] -Three kids. And she had gone this fat. And her husband who was walking beside her had a this big pot belly and a half bald head. And I was wondering- Okay, this is the donkey [laughter] who has made her a donkey! [Laughter] Marriage is not the ultimate objective. Be something. Stand on your firm feet. Carve a personality. Become a powerhouse. Be something. Now-what are you? As I had said that day also if I remove the surname. If I remove the wealth. properties of your parents; who are you? What are you? What is your achievement? You need to create a signature of yourself. You need to carve a distinctive personality. And let me say this, each and every one of you has some special hidden quality and you have to just explore that what it is? And once you have caught hold of that one attribute, polish it. Groom yourself. It is not necessary that only through the academic education, you can make a better future for yourself. May be you can be a good painter. Maybe you can be a good singer. Maybe you can be a good sportsman. Maybe you can become a good yoga teacher. Maybe you can become a good writer, a screenplayer. Maybe you can become a good cameraman. I always need good cameramen. You can become an editor. A cinematographer, a photographer. Why always you have to think about being an BCA, MCA, BBA, CA? These days these are the only degrees which every child is talking about. At one time, it was-I want to be an engineer, I want to be a pilot. Everyone was an engineer and everyone was a pilot. Then, time changed. MBA came. And now, everyone wants to be an MBA degree holder. So many students opted for this course that these days in every nook and corner, there are hundreds of MBA degree holders and there are no jobs for them. Nowadays, everyone wants to do a BBA, a BCA, a computer engineer, a software engineer. Can't you think out of the box? Can't you think about something else? There are so many things which we can do, which we can learn. But, the most important thing is, be an independent person. Don't be dependent on your parents. Do take guidance. Maybe... If they can't give guidance then there are people who can help you. And today, to help you with this itself, after this sitting of mine; To give you career counseling, -what can be the career options? For that, we have specially called some people from Delhi. -Which can help you! [Audience applauds] What to do? But, the most important thing is that if you eye your ancestral property then you are greedy and lazy and useless, according to me. If you only think on marriage and to enjoy on your spouse's income Then there would none more umm... lowly than you! Why I am saying lowly, because you're becoming dependent on someone. And know this, when you're dependent on someone that someone is going to become your Lord. And will make you a slave. Right? When you're dependent on someone, then he will be your master. Then you have treat him as your lord. You have to fulfill all his wishes, whether you like it or not. You have to listen to whatever they say. And whatever the kind of slavery, it can never be good. And why you should be anyone's slave when you can be the master of your life? When you can live independently. Then, why should you live in slavery? Then, why should you stay in someone's slavery? That's why, standing up on your feet is very important and it is only possible if you pay full attention on your education. And alongside education another very important thing which I feel that every child should explore within. And explore some such things such as singing, such as dancing, such as writing. such as some sculpture- -pottery is there, painting is there. Photography is there. Some such thing which is unique. The things everyone is doing... See! When it was a fashion to keep long hair, all boys grew long hair, in 70s. Then in 80s, it was time of short cropped hair everyone kept that. In 90s, it was time for army style hair. -very tiny. -Everybody had that. Well, are you a human or a monkey? And always, you're following someone. When bell bottom was in trend, everyone wore bell-bottoms. When tight jeans came into rage, all wore tight jeans. Collars...big.. Dog Collars... [Laughter] Dog collar means they should be big, like this... up till here, hanging everyone kept them. Short collar, all got them short... Means, will you do only what all are doing? Do something unique. And don't do something unique so that others may see you Do something unique so that in that uniqueness, you create your identity. There are some stupid people. The Guinness Book of World Record has a person's record just for the reason that he rides his cycle in reverse. He has installed a mirror on his Umm... stand. And then he looks the rear and then he rides his cycle in reverse. So, for that he is in Guinness World Book Record This is madness. People go straight and you start moving in reverse somersaults. People walk straight and you, alight a spring tie a stand. and move about like a jumping jack. Jump, jump, jump, jump... like a frog, leaping form one place to...Yes, your name will surely appear in newspaper! But, there is no wisdom in this, no? Life is meant to be lived with wisdom, with understanding. with responsibility. It is known by very few people. Otherwise, all are living and all will die also some day. The one who is alive today will die some day. But, as Kabir Sahib has put it- -All are born crying while crying they die. But, me-Kabir was surely born crying, but I won't die crying. I will die cheerfully. Now, this is a different thing! When the rest of the world cries on arrival of misery Then me, Kabir will laugh on arrival of misery. And Kabir did it, likewise. Some of Kabir's opponents burnt down Kabir's cottage. Kabir ji, at that time; on banks of Ganges was giving discourse. And, somebody gave the news that -Well! Kabir Sahib, you're sitting here giving discourse and someone has set your cottage on fire. "Is it?" Saying this, Kabir rose quickly and leaped towards his hut. All his followers also went behind him. They accompanied to help Kabir Ji. Till they reached there, then what they saw that the neighbors tried to help somewhat so, a few thing like charpoy, some bedsheet, clothing- whatever they could save from this burning house, they brought it out. As Kabir reached, he saw the burning house. Now, what should have happened? He should be anxious, sad; he should curse. -Who? Who set on fire? I will burn everyone's house... on fire! He should have said something like this. But, Kabir is calm. He folded both his hands. and offered salutations! One of Kabir's devotee asked, "Kabir Sahib, what are you doing?" He answered, "Fire god has arrived in our home!" Hmm... Fire God.. has arrived to our home! So, I am offering him salutations. I ma honoring him, welcoming him! And saying this, whatever was left-that charpoy, clothing, trunk. Picking all that up, he threw them back into the burning house. "What are you doing?""Save that which is left," He said, "What is saved of it?" "The guest that has arrived to the home, we need to serve him in some way!" Now, the fire god needs to be given this only, this is its diet. So, picking up all the things that were left, those also, he offered it to the fire. People said-He is bonkers. He is mad. Is it any kind of wisdom to do this? But, Kabir... Kabir is just Kabir, hmm... The fire pacified gradually. At the same spot, on the ground, he put bedding The sheet he wrapped around, the same he spread he laid on the same. All the disciples he had, the neighbors, all of them brought food for him for sometime, after having food, he talked to all. Then, slowly everybody retreated to their homes, places.. And Kabir, lay on his sheet. When he saw above, there were beautiful stars studded in the sky. Half moon was also there. So, looking at the beautiful scene, Kabir started singing. Kabir Sahib began to sing. Kabir said, -I had a cottage, so, I slept in the cottage. So, the night is so beautiful I didn't know! It's such a grace of the Lord The house got burnt I slept outside Then only I could see such splendid stars. So, it is such a grace of my dear Lord! This sweet breeze This glorious moon, these twinkling stars! Such a splendid view! So, he was filled with great emotion, he started singing.
